    Question on Red Max versions

What do you think the biggest engine mount would be that you could put into a Big Red Max without risking damage to the rocket?

    Question on Red Max versions

When I built my Der Red Max, I bought a Screamin' Mimi and scavenged the nose cone and body tube from that, the Mimi's cone is in ordung for the Max. I think the rest of it, I followed the instructions on JimZ's website. I built it with a D engine mount, by the way.

    My Mercury Redstone build

Okay, I had an Estes Mercury Redstone rocket kit that has been hanging around about 10-12 years now. I kept it in the closet with some other model rockets but for some reason this one didn't store well. When I took it out of the bag, the body tube was a bit flattened, especially down where the...

    Question on Red Max versions

What about those grand fins, would they be a problem with that big of an engine? I'd hate to strip them right off.....they would be made of basswood, but I could probably look at building them where they have fin tabs and I could insert them into the body of the rocket....that would probably...

Must have rockets in a person's collection

I'll probably put some weight in the nose cone but not overly so, I think it will...

    Question on Red Max versions

What size engine mount do you think you could put in the Big Der Red Max? I've been playing with the idea of building one, but wouldn't want it to be underpowered.

Must have rockets in a person's collection

I'm just getting back into rocketry and I've decided to build the rockets that took man into space. I'm currently working on the Redstone, just ordered a D/E engine kit from Apogee and will replace the 18mm mount with a 24mm. I would like to send this rocket higher than the 200 ft that it...

    Shock Cord Protection

Apogee sells kevlar cord for pretty cheap. It's all I use in my rockets now. I tie it off on my engine mount, so that there is no chance of losing the parachute during deployment.
