    Apogee Draco BG

Well, a lot to process here. Assuming the balsa is extra thin, go with sand paper at 400 grit and higher with a light touch. Make it smooth like plastic. If you are worried about the strength of your fins you could "paint" them with thin super glue (thin CA glue). Before sanding or after, you...

    "The Andy" Rocket launch.

I wish I had trees. As much as they might get in the way of the rockets.

    "The Andy" Rocket launch.

Holy moly! My dream is to live on an island! The thing everyone says about New Mexico is "Great beach. No ocean." I miss the ocean and take a vacation every year to the gulf coast of Florida or Cape Cod in Massachusetts. I must swim and re-baptize in salt water. Our thoughts and prayers go out...

    "The Andy" Rocket launch.

cut out the cones from the strew and glue them on the flat end of the pods. Looks better than nothing. And yes I got the rocket back. Landed approximately 40 yards from the launch pad. It was a perfectly quiet day.

We call them habits. Darned uncomfortable and not great for chasing rockets landing on a mesa in the high desert. But heck, it's what we do.

From the same evening, lower power flights starting with lowest first. An A10-3 and then a D12-5 with a misfire:

    "The Andy" Rocket launch.

Had a great day for a rocket launch. This one was homemade. For those who are curious about my rather strange dress. I am a Catholic monk at a monastery in Albuquerque. Let's not start a thread about my alternative lifestyle but focus on this classy rocket. It was flown on an Aerotech reload...

    Spacemonkey 1/24 Scale build

Yea. I didn't wait for the Tamiya razor saw. I cut the ends of the blow molded main tube with a sharp Wusthof fillet knife. Otherwise all went well. If my local rocketry club holds PMC competition I will submit it even though the conversion was pretty much a gift from Apogee.

Best place to buy Quest 18mm motors

Not seeking a debate but simply what online stores carry these motors? I'm having a bit of trouble finding them.

    Spacemonkey 1/24 Scale build

I have been building a SpaceMonkey V2 for the past two months. Most of the time spent ordering totally new adhesives and tools (Tamiya razor saw imported from freaking Japan! Thanks Amazon for taking over a month to ship). Yea, that's a new addition to my vocabulary: T A M I Y A. Regardless, I...

Gettting back into LPR with my Daughter Liana, soon to be 5.

Wow! I relive my first launch from a good friend when I was 12. It got me hooked.

    Mantis Launch Pad Availability?

I already acquired one from a member here. I like it, especially the ability to quickly swap out different sized rods. The blast plate is a bit small and some of the structure got scorched. Last time I used it I wrapped a bit of aluminum foil around the scorched parts and it was fine.

I love this forum because there are no folks who need to tease or laugh at the other posting person's expense. And, yea I just did what I suggest we do not...

My power is our and I am board.

Interesting. If it is any consolation the power is out in the southwest valley of Albuquerque and thanks to my handy cell phone I have wifi tethering to my laptop both running on battery power. But nothing else. Oops! Power back on just as I was typing this! Pretty cool and a freaky coincidence.
