Shock cord lengths and narrow rockets

A friend of mine is working on his first rocket, an Alpha III, and was wondering what he should do about the shock cord. I use elastic nylon and go by the "twice as long as the rocket" rule, but all of my craft are at least 1.34" in diameter and generally longer than a foot. Would this be...

    Stein's Fiction

While I knew that G. Harry Stein penned a number of non-fiction books, I was unaware that he also wrote a good amount of sic-fi under the name Lee Correy. I happened to stumble across a bibliography the other day and spotted a title I enjoyed reading years ago. I highly recommend it.

Opinion: What is the most underrated Estes LPR kit?

Exact same nosecone. I believe there was one other model that utilized it as well.

    Launching a rocket to God.

Might be a good youth group activity - build some payload rockets and fill them with prayers. No need to fire them out of sight - it's a neat symbolic activity.

Opinion: What is the most underrated Estes LPR kit?

I've read several reviews of the Estes D.A.R.T. where people complain about the color scheme and ignore the fact that, design-wise, this is a sharp-looking, classic craft. It was one of my first builds and was always a dependable flyer. Years later I found the nose cone and worked up a clone.

20th anniversary - The Fifth Element

My sentiments exactly, point for point. But I'm glad they brought it back for those who dug it.

    Got a pay cut

At this point I would gladly trade in the frequent admiration people express when I tell them I'm a freelance writer for a steady gig.

    Issue with 808 camera

It did have a bit of a hard landing. Oh well - easy to replace and it wasn't a stellar video anyhow.

    Issue with 808 camera

I've been using an 808 keychain camera on launches for a few years and have never had an issue. Today I sent it up on my LOC Aura, but when I went to open the file it stopped converting halfway through and I got a message stating that QuickTime could not open it. I recorded a video just three...

This might be possible. And suggest the formation of a club. I just wonder it the land is about to be developed into something.

    Bad News in Jacksonville

True. This field was too good to be true - all of the athletic fields sit behind the school, so I have no idea what they used it for. I never saw any teams practicing, just a few "civilians" working out once in a while. I usually had the place to myself.

What kind of rockets do you like?

I like to try and make sport models look like scale models.

RC Hobbies, how many have ground or air hobbies?

I've been intrigued by R/C aircraft forever, but never got into it due to the price. Now that it's getting harder to launch in my area, I'm considering biting the bullet and shopping around for a glider.
