NSL 2019 web site is up!

We had the ideal weather for launching at ROC today. Thanks for showing us all a good time, your professionalism and keeping us all safe today. I apologize for trying to catch my Patriot. You called me out on it, good on you...it landed just a few feet from my vehicle would you believe. Lucky 7...

    Anyone try this...?

Launch a rocket with a camera attached and immediately launch a second rocket. The first rocket would capture the second rocket being launched and ascending toward the camera and capturing it's apogee from above. Then watching the descent and looking down on top of the parachute of the second...

    Darn cabinets

Two weeks ago while at work, I swiveled my chair around to toss a crumpled piece of paper in the trash and missed. I walked over in the corner of the office where the trash was to reach down to pick it up. I raised up really quick and BAM! I hit my head on a metal box mounted to the wall that...

    Two Months to NSL!

You can count me in for the NSL. I will also be attending ROC this Saturday while the weather is nice. There hasn't been a launch there in 6 months due to bad weather and need to take advantage of these small windows of opportunity. If the lake bed isn't wet, there could be strong winds or a...

    Magician 808 Camera side mounted

I tried something different this time by mounting the 808 camera sideways. The Magician was launched with a D12-5 engine on a 2 payload flight: Estes Altimeter and 808 camera. A previous flight with camera pointing down with less drag was 655 ft. With the camera mounted sideways, it added a lot...

How much data do you record?

I write the build dates on the top left corner of the build sheet and shoulders of the nose cones along with launches. I keep record of glues, paint colors recorded for touch up, anything different in the build like upgrades in material etc. I also keep a detailed journal like you do.

    BLU-97B Cluster Bomb flights

Great observation Space Ranger! I need a better movie maker to make the adjustments. I was tempted to film the first half of the first launch and then clip the last half of the second launch for a nice solid launch beginning to end, but I didn't want to cheat. Most viewers would never stay long...

    Pvc rocket horizontal holder

I have rockets leaning against the walls in my office. One was in the corner that had not been moved in 6 months and when I went to move it, the nose cone tip was stuck to the wall and pulled a paint chip off the wall the size of a fingernail. The humidity in the summer makes everything tacky...

    BLU-97B Cluster Bomb flights

Went to a local small private owned dry lake in Lucerne Ca. back in early 2015. I launched my Estes BLU-97B Cluster Bomb on Estes C6-3 engine and again on C6-5 engine and probably not in that order. I was new to the whole rocket filming back then. I left out the set of cluster bombs that it came...

state of the art, where will we be in say 5 years

Electronics will replace black powder for ejection. Gonna miss that smell of black powder after each launch...even if it soils my laundry.
