The thing is, you want a bit of a delay between the separation and the sustainer air start or else you are going to get hot staging. I like to light my separation charge right at burnout and the sustainer 0.5 seconds later. There's no option in airstart to add that 0.5 second delay, so I have to...

If you want a delay, set up the airstart in the custom config. I had the same question. You sure you want that long a delay? I separate immediately on burnout and light my sustainer .5 seconds later. It may not be totally vertical if you light after 3-4 seconds.
