DJI drones banned from US Army

Look like the USAA needs to create their own software for these. The DJI hardware is proven and relatively inexpensive. Yeah that would probably break a bunch of end user agreements, but that doesn't seem to be respected by Chinese companies anyway.

Picked one up at the MDRA sod farm yesterday. They had several in stock and one demonstrator with DD.

    Another one bites the dust

They might not be the last, but I'm not selling any of mine. Pricing out parts from BMS comes to $49. 3" Binder Excel @ $59 looks like the best alternative for my Jr. certification kids.

    BT-60 coupler

Yep, the PS II kits tend to be built out of non-standard (for Estes) tubing sizes. Mammoth is 2" and the coupler is available for 1.99. Sure you need another $37.99 worth of rockets to avoid the shippinghttps://www.rocketryforum.com/images/smilies/3.gif

    New Build. Have Questions.

Don't be like one of my students who tried to test a deployment charge without a motor casing in the booster. He was puzzled why his rather large charge didn't deploy the chute.

    New Build. Have Questions.

I've replaced the bulb in my Estes controller with a pinball machine LED bulb, easier to see and passes much less current.

    New Build. Have Questions.

Actually about 5 years ago the climbing community recognized that the bowline increases the potential for become untied with respect to the figure 8 or retraced figure 8. The additional of a zip tie on the tag end of the rope would mitigate that potential, but increases the complexity. For...

    Another one bites the dust

Drat. Bill at BMS needs to clone this. Basically a stretched 3" School Rocket with 29mm mount and ply fins. Probably couldn't sell at the Estes clearance price, but I'll bet he could get $50 for it. This has been the goto rocket for my high school students attempting Jr. Lvl 1. 12 successes...

    PS II Nike w/CTI 29MM CASE ?

No help on CTI, but I flew my PS Nike Smoke on a G53-7FJ for a great flight. I bet that any 1G to 2G loads short of the VMAX should be great.

    Kevlar LIne question please

Same here, I like the stuff Emma sells as 500 lb. to 1000 lb braided. Don't need that kind of strength for MP but it doesn't cut through body tubes and seems to be a lot less likely to tangle into a knot. There doesn't seem to be any real standard for how this stuff is rated/labelled. One...

How To Build A Wireless Launch Controller

you could use wifi but Xbees are easy to work with and available in both 2.4 gHz and 900 mHz high power versions. They are what WilsonFX uses for wireless link. I think you need a physical key for the safety, but I'm not sure.

How To Build A Wireless Launch Controller

Not so much, as he is spec'ing 1000' range. I'll assume HP so BT is not going to provide enough range for any safe HP distance

Idle hands lead to... unleashing the Kraken...

I've admired the Kraken for a while now. Was reading through your thread, and I was like, BT60 - yeah - I've got that. 24mm motor mount parts: check. Plenty of new blades: check. BT60 nose cone: DRAT. But just a sec, I do have a 3D printer and I've built some model for BT70 and BT80...
