When was the last time you had seen one of these?

Black Hole Space Probe For me it was probably around 1980 when I lunched it and lost track of it. I never did find it either. I might have to scratch one up since this one is too rich for my cheap blood.

BT-50 Thrust Rings - What to use?

I'm in the middle of building an Estes Goblin clone with a baffle and realized I don't have any thrust rings (engine blocks). What can I use instead? I don't have any spent D engines and could order some but was hoping to give this thing a test lunch later in the week.

I have a lacquer base wood sealer and was wondering how many coats I need to use on a balsa nose cone. I gave it a good dip but is that enough?

    Wind, How Much Too Much

Made a few lunches (6) today but the wind picked up a bit. I wanted to get out early and be on the field at 8:00 but didn't get there untill 10:00. Forcast was to be 5mph at 8am, 6mph at 9am, 7mph at 10am, 10mph at 11am and 13mph at 12 noon. With gusts 10mph was probably 15mph. I like to...

    Best Glue for Estes Plastic

What is the best glue to use on the newer Estes plastic? Bought a Taser Launch kit because it was cheep and figured it might be worth a try. I used Testors model glue but when we went to launch the Taser the fin fell off. The glue didn't even melt the plastic.

    Baby Bertha

If the Big Bertha is 24" long and the Baby Berth is 12.75" long does that make the BT of the Baby 6.75" long? Are the Big Bertha and Baby Berth fins the same dimension? I can't seem to find plans on the Baby B.

Model rocket: Design and construction by Apogee

Anybody know the differences between the 1st, 2nd and 3rd editions? 1st was copyrighted back in 1995 and the 2nd was 2000 while the 3rd is 2008. Other than that I don't know because I had seen a few 1st and 2nd editions on Amazon.

How long do you let acrylic paint dry before you mask?

How long do you let acrylic paint dry before you mask and apply the next color? Not worried about bleed through as much the paint lifting up with the blue masking tape. I've been playing with the Craft Smart paint (Michaels brand) through the old Badger airbrush and I'm kind of OK with it...

    Whites

I haven't used any white acrylics yet but do they yellow as much as enamels? Do I have to mix some blue in it like one would with enamels? How do you keep your whites from yellowing?

    Estes Hercules

Anybody build one of these lately? I bought this back in the early 80s on a trip to Colorado Springs. I of course had to visit Estes and take a tour of their facilities (wish I could find those pictures). This is not a build thread since the kit was started back then and put in a box. I just...

    Acrylic Paint Help

So my first attempt at using acrylic paint in my opinion has turned into a learning experience on the Estes Patriot. Started with craft paint that was thinned with water but I didn’t like the way it shot. So I bought some createx airbrush paint and shot it straight from the bottle...

    Stuffing the Ranger Tube

Was looking at the instructions for the Estes Ranger and was wondering if there was a better way of blocking the BT off around the motor tubes? The ranger is basically a Big Bertha with three BT-20 tubes for clustering A-C engines. I could try some plywood I guess.

Apple Barrel Acrylic in an airbrush

I went to Michaels to pick up some Apple Barrel Acrylic paint to try in the airbrush. I saw that the Michaels brand was 50 cents for the 2oz bottle so I picked up a few. Questions are, Has anybody used this type of paint in the airbrush with good results? How much did you have to thin...

    Michaels Craft Store Coupons

If anybody has a Michaels craft store near them you can register on their web site and print as many 50% off coupons as you want. This coupon is good through January 10th and is good on one item only but they occasionally have a 50% off around holidays. I just picked up and Estes blast off...
