Yes I got my fairly large order. 40 motors total ranging from G to K. Gonna be a good year ;)

    JB weld for FG assembly?

Definitely gloves. I always wear gloves when working with any epoxies ... 5mil nitrile gloves are about $0.05 each and in my opinion well worth mitigating the risk of developing a sensitivity to epoxy. As for smoothing / shaping fillets ... I picked this up from a post here on TRF a couple...

    Level 1 with Leviathan

Did my L1 on a Leviathan. Added 34" of BMS BT300 tube and called it "stretch". Chore boy baffle in the coupler. H128 pop at the top. Landed 50' from pad. All wood glue construction (except JB weld for retainer). Internal and external fillets (TBII). Flown subsequently on H165R, H180W, H210R...

    estes executioner

There are lots of great suppliers out there but most of my low/mid power stuff I get from balsa machining... They have airframe tubing, couplers, motor mounts, center rings, bulkheads, etc. in just about every LPR (estes compatible) size... For 29mm MMT I use their T52H and for CRs for BT80...

    estes executioner

I grabbed a few as well and plan to go 29mm on at least one. I've done a scratch built BT80 big Bertha upscale with 29mm MMT and fly it on G motors. I did not glass, though I did run the 29mm motor mount up quite a way for 2 reasons... 1) added structure as the 29mm MMT is thick wall, and 2)...

    Aerotech E20 not igniting

I've had trouble with almost all of the AT white lightning single use over the years. For C-slot reloads I lightly sand the slot during assembly. That said, a good hot starter such as wildman little'uns or tiny lighters work magic, and I've also taken to running one of the below up the grain a...

    AeroTech Open Thread

This is the RMS for the 29/40-120 case yes? Assuming yes, buy the -8 and use the delay drilling tool to take it down to 6. I tend to always buy the longest possible delay and then drill for the specific flight. If we are talking SU (non DMS), then this doesn't apply...

What did you do rocket wise today?

The antigravity is quite the robust machine. I punched one up on an F27R this summer. Underchuted a little given the expected altitude... no damage at all. It is nicknamed "ice pick" ... you can probably guess why ;) Love that kit.

Agreed. Awesome member sale and looking forward to Saturday. Sadly I went a little (a lot) over budget yesterday but we shall see ;) Thanks wildman!

Anyone have any experience with the LOC High Tech rocket

Big fan of LOC stuff here as well. Using a lot of LOC materials for scratch building lately, and did my L2 on a mega magg with an AT J340M. I wanted to keep my L2 low and the mega magg was perfect - 1355' L2 flight according to the JL3 onboard :) Building an upscale 4" bertha using LOC...

Rail buttons go at Center of Gravity or Center of Pressure?

I usually do one button just above aft end (rail button into CR or additional backer material glued to aft CR), and one near CG as CR's or ability to install backer allow. Hope that helps!

What did you do rocket wise today?

Continued work on painting a fleet of down- and up-scale Berthas from BT-5 to 4". Hoping to fly at next club launch on all impulse classes from 1/4A through I across 10 models.

Right Rocket for going level 2

My home field has a 3200' ceiling, so L2 options are kind of limited. Low and slow or bust the waiver. I chose a LOC Mega Magg which I put up single deploy (motor deploy) on an AT J340M in the 38/720 case. Flight was perfect to a shallow 1355' with recover 50' from my tent. I can push that to...

    4" Bertha Upscale

Finally some more progress. Got booster tube cut to 26" (coupler will be installed as a baffle), and the fore tube will be cut to 18". This leaves about 11" of room to pack recovery. Got MMT installed and fins all tacked with 5 minute epoxy. Internal and external fillets will be done with...

What did you do rocket wise today?

Nice! Not today, but I successfully did my L2 flight last weekend. LOC Mega Magg on a J340M aerotech metalstorm. 1355' landed 60' from my tent. Couldn't have been happier with the flight. Swing testing a LOC Mega Magg? Priceless. (Yes, I actually did)

    4" Bertha Upscale

Just got the shipping notice from LOC with my MMT (38mm), CR's, and bulkplate are on the way! I don't get much time to build during the week, so that's OK - looks like they'll be here by the weekend. The plan is to use a longer MMT as a stuffer tube, ending in a CR at the top of the coupler...

    4" Bertha Upscale

Taking my first crack at a John Coker inspired in-nose AV bay. Since I needed a solution for recovery anchor anyway (the FG cone I bought doesn't have an anchor point or bulk plate installed), seemed like a no-brainer. And it will give me a chance to fly my Eggfinder which I'm yet to use. Since...
