    Nose Cone Weight Why and When

    Why do you add nose cone weight? How do you know that you need to add nose cone weight? Do you fly your rocket first and then determine it needs weight? Or will a simulation program give you a direct order to place weight? I hate to mess up a nice rocket not doing the right thing. Thanks

    Will do on the fins. I used 30min epoxy mixed with Great Planes Milled Fiberglass for the fillets on the outside and the inside.

    Distance Between CG and CP

    First attempt at Cert1 with a LOCIV. Center of gravity is 27.5 and my Center of Pressure is 34.5. A difference of 7in. I did this measurement without the motor casing and of course the engine.     1/4 in Kevlar Too Much?

    building the LOC IV. Rocket is right at 4' tall. Standard rule is 3X to 4X the length of the rocket for shock cord. Is 1/4 in Kevlar with length at 16' weighing in at 8oz too much? Or should I drop to 7/16 Kevlar?

    Why 4X the Length of Rocket for Shock Cord

    I plan to use 1/4 in Kevlar for a shock cord on my LOC IV for recovery. the rocket is 48" tall. That would make my shock cord 16'. I've even heard 5X the length of the rocket. Why so long a shock cord?

    Launchpad Distance

    What is typical distance from launchpad to launch controller for mid to high power rockets? I'm trying to figure out how much wire I need. I know most use 12 volts to launch the rockets and everyone uses from car batteries to small 11.5 RC batteries. What's the best route?

    Lots of folks use some type of reinforcement on the Kevlar that touches the tube at the point between the nose cone and the body of the rocket to prevent ripping. I planned on using a thin nerf rocket at that location to prevent ripping. I was just wondering if the discharge would be too much...

    Leviathan is painted. FINALLY!!! Ready for chute and everything else. In order to prevent ripping I plan to use a thin nerf rocket. Is this sufficient? Or is the discharge too powerful and will burn up the nerf rocket?
