    Talking instead of flying

Interesting article! And the "Shut Up!" video was good, too! I guess there are a number of ways of looking at things. After driving about 2.5 hours to get to a launch, I have got a whole bunch of things on my mind. Well, one, really: LAUNCH! (this is after I've used the Porta-Potty, typically)...

    Defense against the desert sun...

I started wearing one of these...it is a shirt with a hood, with an SPF 50 rating. I was wearing all sorts of Foreign Legion style hats, but still wound up getting sunburned on my neck and ears (I wear my hair short). These seem extreme, but it saves me from having to slather on suntan lotion...

    10" Pole Cat Thumper

Hey, If the #1 guy doesn't take it, I'll take it. I won't be at LDRS, but I'm just up the road from you (in southern SLO county).

I have had to chase away the turkeys twice today!

re: wild turkeys, I got a couple of nasty scratches on the hood of my car from some...where I work is over run with a bunch, and a couple were on the hood of my car when I was done for the day. Their talons are pretty impressive! re: wild pigs, just looked this up...

    Where's your Happy Place (s)?

You beat me to it! Just lounging around, with a good book in my hand and my dog (currently only one). Usually doze off after about an hour...ahhh, happy place!

Looking for inspiration and maybe a kick in the pants!

Just saw this thread...it sounds like you are going through a rough spot, and for legitimate reasons. I know it sounds silly to others, but, 69 isn't that old! Well, maybe to somebody in their 20's & 30's, but I've always been amazed at how, even though my body's odometer turns over another...

    Madcow?

I've always had great service from Madcow. There are rumors that Madcow is acquiring at least one former rocket mfg. that has closed down. This would be a real win for us all. If the rumor is true, I'm sure that Mike is busier than the proverbial "one-legged man in a butt-kicking contest."

Just ran across this on YouTube

I don't watch YouTube much at all, usually just educational videos and some video game walk-throughs. This video popped up on a recommended list and looked educational and so I clicked on it...famous last words, on the internet! Now that you mention it, I'm sure a lot of people have posted some...

okay...what are you guys doing playing with dolls? Do you two play together? Although, I have to say (since I'm from the People's Republic of California), there is absolutely nothing wrong with grown men playing with dolls!

Just ran across this on YouTube

The stuff I see on YT, without any mention of safety procedures (or lack thereof) makes me have a heart attack/coronary/all of the above: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xvVJQSGHts

    Rust-Oleum Primer Adhesion Promoter meltdown

My rules of thumb are: 1. If it looks good from 10 feet away, it's good enough for me. And lately (stole this from someone's sig line, can't remember who), 2. My rockets have to earn their paint. Having just flown this weekend from the usual dirty rails at the club, now I have to wipe off all...

Has anyone built the new 11.5" Cowabunga Mammoth yet?

Oh no! I hope you don't have to send it back! ;) How's the build going?

Strange incident with Estes D12-3 driven rocket

I guess we will never really know what happened. Because I once saw a rocket (a friend's beautiful Estes Maxi-Brute V-2, incredible camouflage paint pattern) fly almost horizontally because of rod-whip, I always launch everything size A-C on minimum 3/16" rod (so, that would be about 4.8mm), and...

    Buying black powder

I thought I had a lead on a black powder supplier, but...it was just a flash in the pan! I'll just grab me coat and go now...

Where to find card stock like Estes uses.

Cool idea! They are $12.17 at Amazon and $12.88 at Wal-Mart... https://www.amazon.com/dp/B003ZUK2J6/?tag=skimlinks_replacement-20

    Shock Cord Protection

On most rockets (works esp. well with longer rockets, since you have more room) you can install a baffle system...good examples are: https://www.rocketarium.com/Build/Ejection-Baffles I think the kevlar string method is usually the easiest/best, just make sure you make it long enough, since...

Weight Loss Options & Sleeve Gastrectomy is Not One of Them!

^ That is something I have seen as well. I was going to ask if you have tried Weight Watchers...I have heard a bunch of people have success with this, and at a minimum, you will learn a lot about food, nutrition, and how to read labels and make healthier choices. If you don't eat a lot during...

Weight Loss Options & Sleeve Gastrectomy is Not One of Them!

Sorry to hear about all the struggle you have been going through! My $0.02 is that everybody's body is a bit different, and responds differently to different things, so, when somebody says "Try this" or "Try that," maybe it worked for them but that doesn't necessarily mean it works for you...

Cj builds WM Mach-2 rocket [2-stage]

Definitely temperature dependent...I get worried about epoxying the tape to the rocket, so I've started putting two layers of tape on to mask the fillets (both right exactly on top of each other)....if I pull it up a little early and there is any sag or pull, it just goes onto the second layer...

I'll take what they have... The Slow Mo Guys video.
