My working career began with a summer as a busboy in a steak restaurant. Worked my way through college assembling bicycles for Sears and Roebuck. Took my Mechanical engineering degree and went to work for Hewlett Packard. 19 years designing Pen Plotters and Thermal InkJet cartridges. Also...

    Cattle-killing rockets?

The rule I have lived by, while backpacking and offroading is: When you get to an unlocked gate, go through it and LEAVE the gate in the state you found it in. Maybe the owner wants it open so cattle can get from food to water and back. Maybe a previous yahoo left it open and the cows are...

Nano rocket motor runs on H2O

You need a source of energy to run the 20W electrolysis cell. On a satellite, solar cells and couple of batteries does the trick. On a midpower model rocket, not so much. No way around the 2nd law of thermo.

    Estes or Centuri?

Back in the day my first two stage rocket was a Centuri Marauder. Loved that model. Semroc was rekitting it, so I had a chance to buy another and fly it again. http://spacemodeling.org/jimz/centuri/kc-45.pdf

    I suck at knots

To attach a shroud line to the parachute (lpr) I use two half hitches. Fast, simple and it does not come loose. I love the taut line hitch. Adjust the length of sunshade or rainfly guylines WITHOUT one of the little plastic or metal doohickeys, just rope. PFM! PS, my user name is short for...

Estimating Drag Force using Telemetry Data?

After motor burnout, the equation simplifies to -G-Drag= mass* acceleration. No assumptions about thrust curve required.
