Actively controlled rocket not flying straight

Time to face facts . . . Whatever the TARC rules, this project is too complex to work, consistently, in the "realm of Model Rocketry".

SCALE - (Atlantic Research) ARCAS Gallery

Start the BBQ grill . . . Be there at 5pm to start measuring ! BTW - Are you SERIOUS ?

Rocket flies straight and then won't

I'm betting on a model with a large margin of stability ( over-stable ), combined with large fins.

Actively controlled rocket not flying straight

I suspect that is to prevent a competitor from "punching in a target altitude" and then having a fully-automated system ( run by a computer ) control the deployment altitude. As an example, the rocket is capable of flying higher, but the computer activates the deployment mechanism EARLY, at the...

Actively controlled rocket not flying straight

Good question . . . One thing I am pretty sure of is that you would not be allowed to use a "pyrotechnic charge" ( anything that burns ) for deployment. https://rocketcontest.org/wp-content/uploads/Handbook-for-ARC-2024-20-July-2023-compressed.pdf

Actively controlled rocket not flying straight

What type of sensors do you have to supply you with "real-time" airspeed, ascent angle, deceleration rate, and altitude. Remember, there is little you could do, during powered flight. So, any adjustments would have to be made during the Coast Phase. Realistically, you would need to know the...

Please consider helping Grizzly Aerospace Attend the Spaceport America Cup

Here, let me help you . . . I'm done posting in this thread and I'm done listening to "sob stories", aimed at getting money out of others. Dave F.

Perhaps, "hurting someone's feelings" . . . That one surfaces quite often on TRF.

Possibly . . . Either way, no more "Free Rides", at my expense. If people can find another sucker, that's on them . . . This "bank" is closed !

    Classic Car?

Nope, not running yet . . . Actually, I'm considering selling it, as is, in the near future. I'm 62 and my "priorities" are changing. Dave F.

That's why it's wise to consult "outside sources", for confirmation. Having Paranoid tendencies is preferable to being in denial, because those in denial never realize their situation, until it's too late !

Actively controlled rocket not flying straight

Personally, I would just redesign the simple rocket ( adjust length or change fin size ), rather than flying something so complex, with so many possible "failure modes". Remember, you also have the "tolerance range" of performance for the rockets motors, which is completely beyond anyone's control.

The questions, asked in the manner you did, were an attempt to get me to "connect the dots" by, hypothetically, saying something like, "Yes, it's Conspiracy because everyone planned together and accepted the money for the phony Girl Scout cookies . . . It's Fraud because they claimed to be Girl...

    Classic Car?

I inherited this from my Buddy, Ricky Powell, who passed away, unexpectedly. I never even knew he had me in his Will, until his brother James came up to me and said "Ricky loved you like a brother and he wanted you to have this" and handed me the keys and the title . . . Its a 1976 Corvette...

I never accused anyone of anything, directly ( I did use an "insulting name", though ). My responses were directed at your attempts to get me to do so., not at those individuals. This is a "chess game" you cannot win.
