Mega Baron from Arkansas [Squirrel Works]

Have to respectfully disagree here; alphatic resin is plenty strong - stronger than the wood itself - is a lot lighter and doesn’t require mixing that introduces potential errors to the build. You probably won’t develop an allergic reaction to wood glue either as you can with epoxy. In a...

Aurora Clipper 18mm from Arkansas [Dynasoar Rocketry]

That's excellent news - hate the thought of a lot of models grounded due to lack of motors. I burn a number of C3 (and D7's but in larger models of course) as well so I'm hoping we can get a run of those from time to time too.

    Foam Board

Thanks for the replies, everyone - There's a discussion on one of the RC aircraft forums using a hot wire cutter to slice this same material into thinner sheets and even cut in airfoil shapes, so it's a good option and a good suggestion. Something I may give a whirl. Interesting; if the...

    Foam Board

Tim McKay featured a foam F22 from plans on his YouTube channel - It's a simple matter to download the plans (a link in the description), print it on 8.5 x 11 and then hit the Fed Ex store (there's one in the lobby of the building I work in) for a full size printout. I actually went a little...

    Gobliner.....R/C Goblin Rocket glider

Sorry to hear that you're burned out, Frank. It's true that I'm high and dry for foam at the moment. I'm also pretty new at foam aircraft so I'm willing to commit to get some practice.

    Foam Board

Hello, I have a set of plans for an electric powered F22 that I would like to build as a companion model to my Dynasoar F22, problem is I'm sort of stuck over what material to build it out of. I'm new to foam board so I'm looking for some advice and practical experience. RCDepron is listing...

    Gobliner.....R/C Goblin Rocket glider

Hmmm, yes, so many rockets so little time. That's pretty cool Frank! My wife got a 4-inch LOC Goblin for Christmas (she started talking about getting level one at the NSL.) I just showed her the photo of the glider above and she told me she ordered a regular Goblin earlier this week. So I'm...

    F-22 Raptor R/C rocket glider

Was finally able to fly the Dynasoar F22 late last month. I bought and built the thing ‘way back in August. Sorry no vid, but here’s a couple of pics of it in the white - I’ll paint it now that it’s flown a couple times. Planning on the Alaska (AK) livery - Sticker Shock vinyl on the way...

Post a pic that makes you LOL

Gary Larsen is alive and well and occasionally puts up something new on thefarside.com. Very sorry to hear of Gary B’s passing.

Post A Pic That's Sad But True...

That 1/8-inch bit is with your 10mm socket (where ever that is). And in my case any given tool may be anywhere since my youngest now has a “hot-rod” to ”enhance.”

Post a pic that makes you LOL

What else can you do with it? One plant will feed an army and your friends flee at the site of you with that paper bag. I once heard a story about a guy who had taken three zucchini’s to the mall and left them on the car seat with the widows down hoping they would be taken. When he came back...

Check out my new yard sale rockets!

That'll teach her to take you yard saling! (My wife learned her lesson a long time ago.) The bottom two are actually a two stage pair - I remember twisting the two together and putting in some water (some in each part). Then you pumped them up, shook the little plug in there into the upper...

    Interceptor G parts wanted

Thanks for those! If I can get a set arranged to fit on 8 1/2 x 11 pages the long awaited refinish of my "G" will begin directly! And that provides inspiration to get busy on building the "E" as well.

What did you do rocket wise today?

Glad you found it Doug; wish you were still selling kits. I particularly liked the Silver Hawk.

What did you do rocket wise today?

Finishing up the Flis ACME Spitfire. I wanted it to resemble the Far Side panel so I used Monokote aluminum trim for the body and red on the nose. The fins should be Monokote blue to match the 'toon but I liked the look of metal panels and used laser printed label stock instead; the original...

Dr. Zooch - Saturn V build - FINISHED

Yeah, probably. Sadly, the Good Doctor did not show the balance point on the plans/instructions - none of the DZ kits that I've built do. (I have a copy of the Saturn V but it's still in the box.) But here's what can you do: prepare the rocket to fly, wadding, motor, etc. Then find the balance...

Estes Alpha on 24MM motor and other silliness.

Bonus: lower speed means lower dynamic drag and should produce higher altitudes. Thrust curve says the E6 burns for 5.8 seconds. The closest to that is the Estes E9 at 3.1 seconds. To the OP I would add that epoxy is not stronger than wood glue when joining wood to paper (it's also heavier)...

Estes gives you the chance to bring one rocket back. What would it be?

My initial thought when I first saw this thread was the same as K-Tesh: The Cineroc-Omega, 808 camera ready. We baby-boomers would all buy at least one. However, after some reflection, a Cineroc look alike is already available from a couple sources - eRockets offers a blasa/paper version and...
