    Poor Tesla - Blasphemy

The biggest difference between Tesla and Edison is that Edison was a much better businessman. He went after inventions with a practical commercial value that he could make money from. He founded a company that is still one of the 5 largest industrial corporations in the world (General Electric)...

    Battlestar Galactica Season Finale

The deterioration of the SCi-Fi Channel was a given the moment NMC bought them out. It was almost immediate too. SCi-Fi used to run some decent mini-series and movies occasionally, but I have not seen anything like that since the one Riverworld movie they did 4 or 5 years ago. BSG had a lot of...

    Some interesting aerial footage...

This hilarious video was next on the list when I viewed the one you posted. That guy needs some work on his take-off skills....:rotflol::rotflol: https://www.break.com/index/rc-jet-hilariously-bad-take-off.html

    Staging compatibility

Back in the 80's I staged an E6-0/E6-8 using a thermalite fuse. It worked both times, and both times I lost the upper stage and only got the booster back once. I used a modified Apache 2. JoeW

    By the time...

I remember seeing those commercials somewhere. When we found some blasting caps, we always knew what they were and used them appropriately, like in blowing up ground squirrel dens. :D Stirred up a bunch of rattlesnakes one winter doing that.

My crazy day with some TARC kids

I was talking to a guy who went to high school with me back in rural West Texas and he was telling me that the state has really de-emphasized shop and vocational classes. They are requiring so much academic work under the faulty assumption that everyone should go to college thast there is hardly...

    Oil

The energy density in compressed air is not there either. To get the energy density of gasoline it would have to be compressed to ridiculous pressures. You also have to consider this - air compressors are powered by electricity generated at an average of 40% efficiency at a distant power plant...

    Oil

Nice concept, but I bet the complexity of the added turbine/generator system is not really reliable enough for mass production yet. GM has been experimenting with using thermocouples connected with the exhaust system to replace the alternator. This might be available in 2-3 years and is about a...

    Oil

I remember when I graduated college in 1979, the big buzz was electric cars. A new high density battery was just around the corner in the development phase and would be out on the market in the early 80's. It died when testing discovered that under typical driving conditions the batter died...

    Oil

Another thing not realized by everyone is that within 4-6 years, you will have to replace the battery on that hybrid, and at ~$5k, you will be adding another couple of years on the payments for that car, assuming you finance it for 5 years initially.
