    Dog Barf on Dirty Jobs

Naw, he's just finding a large scale use for "Rocket Recovery Material, Economy Blend"... :)

    3x Custom Tristar

Yeah, can't be too careful!! Actually, that's the unfinished booster section to my BT60 Iris I was toying with. Yeah, Kudos again to Tango Papa for a real fine rendition of the originals (I painted the blue, he made me the black bits).

    3x Custom Tristar

Finally got the Tango Papa decals ordered and received, beautiful work by Tom there. Still a few nore to attach, but it's looking like the prototype now. Flew once (G79), real straight. Now time to fly with full livery.

    The Macron

I've got a 4in "Macron", cept it's based on the very old Centuri Micron, best as I could determine from the rudimentary plans. Neat looking upscale! Lotas fin, always cool in flight.

what is the state of rocketry

I'm accepting, slowly, the increased regulation of the upper end of the hobby. Hoping for better days, but we'll see. My concern is the "Jacka#$" mentality..."here's something with flash and fire, what absolutely stupid and assinine thing can we do with it?" This really bothers me. But at the...

Just ordered TCB in a Flash Thunder

Been looking at this kit for a while now, a bigger rocket with plenty of room to get my mitts inside. Should make a nice L2 project, though I'm not sure what the final configuration will be. (I love upscales...) For the under $100 price (+$9 shipping), I'll be getting a long (including 24"...

Happy Birthday ! Space Age offically 50 years young.

Now...is Estes going to re-release the old Jupiter C (maybe with the new Redstone plastic fins) for the January Explorer anniversary? It would make sense...

    Giant Leap 6:1 nosecones

I'm looking at the 6:1 ogive nosecones, 4" version in particular. The site doesn't give much details...material, weight, shoulder length, etc. (edit...I may be thinking of the Performance Rocketry nosecone...) It's going to be the long front end of a potential L2 project of something I've not...

    Iris BT70 build =scale=

Absolutely beautiful work, Balltip. Your perseverence in gathering the scale data, and then building it into the rocket is wonderful to see. And she flies like...an IRIS...straight and true! Great job!

    Water slide decal concern

There are different brands...MicroSet and MicroSol are softening agents that allow the decal to conform to the nooks and crannies of a surface, plus increase the adhesion. Many hobby shops carry them (my Hobby Town does). There are some other brands as well. Dave

    Launching with the Scouts

Yep, we've handed out very many 1st time flyer certificates for the program...the kids are having such a good time (like I tell them...when was the last time you built something that went 250 miles per hour??)

    Atlantis on the pad

...and sitting atop what looks like a refurbished MLP2...spiffy clean with new paint and all. Hope they get her up this time!

    Launching with the Scouts

We had a couple of days of Scout and school group launches this weekend...Alphas, E2Xs, Gnomes...and really good flying weather. The winds were pretty light, allowing some more "robust" motors than the usual A8-3s. Surprisingly, and to their credit, very few shreads or no-deploys...they done...

Model rockets cause Blue Grass Airport traffic to be rerouted

Blue Grass airport is surrounded by Class C airspace, like many towered airports. Out to 5nm, the tower owns the airspace surface to 5000agl. From 5-10 nm, they own 2200-5000' agl. Anyone in that airspace needs to be in contact with Tower. If the rocket activity will create a problem, the ATC...

    My Saturday flights

Jeff, our club photog/"publicist" took the pictures. He's quite the rocketeer, with a lot of unique designs. The "east" launch site is just north of the "town" of Peyton, east of the Springs. Lots of open acres, friendly hosts and distant neighbors. The house in the one pic is a guest house...

Getting a Model Rocket into Space

I suspect it always will involve a very high propellant/total mass ratio, the higher the better...along with a straight boost.

    Does the NASA SRB chuff?

Their igniter "system" has igniters lighting igniters that light the motors. The final igniter is a monster that apparently fires flames pretty well down the length of the SRB core...kinda like using an E motor to light an M... ...when it positively, absolutely has to light the first time...

    My Saturday flights

Recoveries were "textbook"...light winds, with delays adjusted down to around 6 seconds. The big Micron (Centuri upscale) came home on the big hot pink 44" BSD chute, the Iris on a blue 38" from my Neubauer Redstone. I love it when everything works... Dave
