    Rockets of the World

Just finished reading "Red Moon Rising" by Matthew Brzezinski. It talks about Kruschev and Korolev and some of the political wrangling and fallout surrounding the first couple of sputnik launches. A good read if you are interested. kj

    PEPP 1 Aeroshell

Just depends on how much propellant and impulse you have as to where you cross the line into needing a cert to fly it. I believe the HBoMR has a statement about the number of stages where 3 is about the limit of diminishing returns. Don't think there was anything in there about clusters. kj

    Why?

1 demerit for making me wait yet another year to build an Anubis rocket. kj

    RockSim Quandry

Finally got around to looking a the rocksim file and it _was_ the custom fin material with 0 mass that was causing the simulation not to run. Good tip, Indiana kj

    New, "Project Target"

I'm glad you saw that and thought to build it too Mike. It will surely get finished and flown, unlike mine. :) kj

    Holverson (Fun) Zoomie

Yeah you need to pay attention to wind direction, rod angle and glider orientation with the Tinee to get s boost that is not a loop. Been a while since I have flown one. Now I tend to fly rocket gliders that can be controlled during boost. :) My first Holverson kit was the Silverhawk...

Suggested Kits for transitioning from LPR to MPR?

I've got nothing but good things to say about the Binder Design 2.6" diameter kits for someone looking to fly easy to get 29mm F and G motors. I've been flying my Excel Jr. model for years. They have great components, without going overboard on the HPR style parts you sometimes get in MPR kits...

[que mad laughter] It Flies! It Flies! Our first kit-bash cluster rocket!

I love liftoff photos that catch the ignitor plugs flying through the air. :) kj

    Intercepter E,F?

I always thought the red dart on the tails of the X-35b protoype looked cool with the gray paint. https://robocat.users.btopenworld.com/Images/jsf12.jpg

My "A" Engine R/G Project (I Had To Do It!)

A couple more flights at FooseFest-2 yesterday. Tried a couple of A engined flights and even some 1/2A to test where the limits were with this glider. A flights (A3-4) required a little bit of down elevator to prevent loops on the boost. 1/2A3-2T flights were comical. The glider got...

Don't forget that 4 E9's puts you over the propellant limit and into HPR. :) 4 D12's to an E9 is just under. kj

A streamer and A parachute duration - Rocket Designs

The "pinch" comes partially from using large diameter chutes in large diameter models, and partially from material selection. The internats rules require a body diameter of 40mm for at least half of the model length (500mm). Instead of tightly folding and rolling the chutes to get into small...
