    Fibreglass needed?

Hi everyone, Havent been here for a while... I am about to build a PML Bull Puppy for my Level 1 cert, and have a question regarding the use of fibreglass. I plan to fly it on mainly H's and a few I's. It it worth the time and money to fibreglass the inside of the piston and engine mount...

My first HPR build, shame it wont be flying :(

We didn't get to fly anything the other week (field was too wet and churned up to get to), but I've found someone to borrow a case from :). All I need to do now is finish building it (I've just got back from a holiday, and now with Christmas, it may be a while :L). Silverfish

My first HPR build, shame it wont be flying :(

For me, it's mainly the weather that prevents me from flying, I haven't been able to do any launches for almost two months :(... As for the other comments, asking if I can borrow a case sounds like a good idea! I'll be going to a club launch (weather permitting) this Sunday, so I'll ask...

    Spaceman Santa

Inspired by the Estes Astron Spaceman, I have recently scratch built a Santa rocket :D. It will probably fly on B's and C's, and is tumble recovery. Photo attached (sorry for the quality, my camera is out of batteries so I had to take it on my phone). Silverfish

    Wadding Alternatives?

Try these: https://www.rocketstore.co.uk/shop/product.asp?numRecordPosition=3&P_ID=335&strPageHistory=cat&strKeywords=&SearchFor=&PT_ID=81 They are small squares of nomex that your parachute is wrapped up in. They have a small hole in one corner for the shock cord to attach to, and the best...

My first HPR build, shame it wont be flying :(

Hi everyone :) After sitting staring at a 3" diameter tube for the past few days, I've come up with a rocket to turn it into. Its a rip-off of BSD's 38mm Thor rocket (just a bit shorter). The tube is drying in the garage after having been primed earlier (I would get a photo, but its raining...

    Relay box

Welcome to TRF :)! A relay box resolves the problem of the resistance caused by the wire from the rocket preventing the igniter from firing. It is basically an extra box that is placed right next to the rocket that the battery, and the launch controller with its highly resistive wires, is...

    Launch Controller

Hi :) I am in need of a replacement launch controller for my little Estes Electron-Beam. I want it to be 12V, and was thinking of building my own rather than paying the high prices that are charged for pre-built ones. I found this: https://principialabs.com/electronic-launch-control-system/...

Dr. Zooch Saturn V Cluster Mod

Thanks for your help Doc! I drilled a hole in the adapter and poured in enough led shot to bring the CG to the right point, and then soaked them with CA to stop them rattling around. I got a chance to fly the Saturn today, and it was a successful, if surprising flight :). It flew straight as an...

The Quest MLAS is available for purchase!

This is a kit that I really want, but do not want to pay really high shipping charges to the UK. Does anyone know if any UK rocket stores are going to be selling this kit? Thanks Silverfish

    Cirrus Dart level 1

Hi rocketman :), Well, I never thought I'd see another teenager from the UK on here, but you proved me wrong :D I haven't really thought about do a Level 1 cert yet, but one rocket that I did notice was the Madcow 4" Cowabunga...

    New MPR flyer

How about buying a 24mm case, which will fly most 29mm rockets by using a motor mount adapter and up to an F reload, and then later buying a 38mm case and H and above reloads for a future Level 1 flight attempt (I am not sure exactly what you have to do to get a Level 1 cert, can you even use a...

    New MPR flyer

Me again :D Up 'till now, the largest motor that I have used is a 24mm Micro hybrid (unless you count a cluster of 4 C's as higher). I would like to build some mid-power rockets, but am not sure which to go for... One rocket that I have always had my eye on is the QModeling Bullpup, which...

The upper stage balances at 69mm (minus the shoulder). The whole rocket balances at 187mm.

    Best Primer/Paint/Filler available in UK?

Hi all :D I was wondering what was the best brand of primers, paints and fillers that are available in the UK? The stuff that I am using at the moment is terrible: the individual grains of filler are too large for it to fill body tube spirals properly, and the primer never dries fully, and...

    My Renegade

I cant help but wondering, aren't the gasses from the booster motor supposed to create pressure between the tubes and thus separate them? Surely if you allow the gasses to escape by cutting vent holes they wont create any pressure between the tubes and the rocket wont stage.... Just a thought...
