    Least Flown Rocket....

Easy call: The Outlander. Looks cool but flies like a brick.

    Any Custom fans out there?

I stumbled onto a Bullet kit several years ago after it was already out of production. It's one of my all-time favorite Custom kits. Seems like the company doesn't have the imagination it once had. All I can ever find is the same old kits over and over.

    April 28 launch

You get great pics, Fred. Looked like your light was changing that day. What shutter speed you generally go with?

New Magazine Devoted to Model Rocketry

I think I ordered my subscription too late for the first issue. Is it available as a back issue?

    Dissapointement at Hobbytown

The Hobbytown in Robinson has been a disappointment since it opened, rocketry-wise. They're really good for other stuff like finishing supplies, though. It would be well worth your time to take a trip to Hobby Express in Cranberry. Harry has a great selection of parts, kits and motors there...

    Astron Trident

The main thing to keep in mind when building a Trident from scratch or kit (I'm in the middle of a PDR build right now) is to not cut the venting ports too wide. The instructions are pretty specific about this. If you make them too wide, you end up having to patch with CA-soaked paper and then...

    Wadding Collection

What's the next collection, Clive? Shock cords? Igniters? Launch lugs?

    d21 machbuster

Dummy me. I searched under Ddash21. Doh. Thirty plus years of rocketry and still can't remember the dash comes before the delay time. Thanks!

What do you HATE/LOVE in modroc kits?

Call me old-fashioned, but I hate plastic nose cones. Maybe I've just got a nostalgic yen for balsa, but I sure love it when I get a big ol' hunk o' wood in a kit (like Jim's Deuce) and get to work to make it shine. The PNCs anymore have so much junk left over from the seam of the mold that...

    Favorite Winter Olympic Sport

I'm with ya, Bruce. Curling is pretty cool. It's like those shuffleboard type games with the metal pucks you see in some bars (largely in northern Pa. and New York) only on a much larger scale. I like the downhill skiing and speed skating, because anyone could wipe out at any time (can you say...

    Best Educator's Pack?

Well, we'll have to agree to disagree. I'd much rather raise the chance of success for each of the flyers. The kids whose rockets didn't perform as well as some others could leave discouraged.

    Best Educator's Pack?

I would strongly suggest that with Cub Scout-aged children, you opt for a rocket with a single-piece plastic fin can. Even though the parents will be helping, it's a tough task the first time you try to glue on individual balsa fins. Plus the waiting time for the glue to set can allow boredom...

I give, TWR. What's the answer to the Bowie lyric quiz?

    Estes Poll

I scraped up all the money I had, bought an Arcas kit, red and white butyrate dope, a launch rod and deflector plate and some A8-3s. My order (back then, sent directly to Penrose) was enough that I got three C6-5s for free! Remember the free stuff you could get, like the Goblin kit? My first...

    Superbowl Poll

Anybody who likes storybook endings has to pull for the Steelers. They were 7-5 after losing to Cincinnati in early December and looking like even a wild card spot was out of the question. Then they ran off four regular season wins to sneak into the sixth seed. From there, it only got better...
