    New fleet pic

They do look good, J... of course, when you spend as much time and effort as you do finishing them, coupled with the wash-downs after the flights, they're gonna stay pretty. Don't worry... I won't mention the shower schedule.... :D

    Homemade Igniters

I use a paired single-strand copper wire setup with a 36g Nichrome bridge... dipped in ground 4F and a nitrocellulose laquer..(acetone and dissolved ping-pong balls)..... works great for me. Besides.. if the weather's bad and you can't launch, you can always pop the ignitors off in the...

    Art Applewhite Rockets - Qubit

This is an enjoyable thread for me... I love saucers, and have one of Art's 29mm "Smiley's".... and an 18mm version....I tell ya... anyone who has yet to try out one of these little beauties (yeah, you, firemanup) is missing out.. these things are a kick! I gotta get one of these Stealths....

Need A Kit Recomendation (L1 and L2 Capable)

Well, since I enjoy building almost as much as I do flying, I'd recommend building an L1 rocket, and then an L2 bird... but that's just me ;) I did my L1 on a BSD 4" Diablo, and my L2 on a 4" BSD Thor...but if you really want one bird that would handle both certs, the Thor is certainly up to...

    2nd Annual TRF Gathering

I did my fatherly duty at the launch:D My brother (firemanup) actually got Thor down.. he got tired of watching the sling-shot process, so he just bearhugged the tree and started inching his way up until he reached the branch it was caught up on, took out a small saw and sacrificed the limb in...

    2nd Annual TRF Gathering

That was a great flight, Carl..... and the "Do that one again" kid was mine....he didn't stop talking about that one for quite a while...:p All in all, it was a great weekend for flying... and my Thor is down from that rocket-eating tree... no damage other than a pulled rivet from yanking on...

    2nd Annual TRF Gathering

Hey Eric F.... Any chance of bringing our newer rail down for this one? I'll be happy to pick it up if need be....

    I blew up my THOR

Well J... at least they're awesome pics and vids! Shrug it off, Bro... look at the bright side... you get to build another Thor. I didn't get to fly mine today b/c of the wind... Next month at Whitakers is going to be a kick....

L2 This Weekend - BSD Thor

Well Lance, I know how you feel.. Culpeper, VA wasn't the place to be either today in regards to the weather conditions. We had a steady 15-20 mph wind and gusts somewhere in the 30'ish mph range. Took and passed the test though, so at least that's part of it out of the way. On the plus...

L2 This Weekend - BSD Thor

L2 This Weekend - BSD Thor

All - Thanks for the kind words! Paul - Thanks....I hope to get to Whitakers in April for the 2-day Sport... there's a rumor that there may be a Thor drag-race, and I've been told mine may be one of them.....should be a great time... Eric - Yep.. I wish you could make it too...I'll get...

L2 This Weekend - BSD Thor

Well, going to give the L2 Cert a shot this Sunday in Culpeper, VA. Going to fly my BSD Thor (pic below.. I finally learned how to insert 'em!!) on a J420R. So excited I can hardly stand it.... I know a few other guys that are going to be attempting the L2 as well this weekend.... Best...

Looks good, Bro... Now I guess I have to get one of those, too...:D

    Motor retainers

I came up against the same thing, J...the clips were made for a 38mm casing, but I was using a 29 and needed them to be much longer..... I made mine out of brass piping by cutting the pipe in half, flattening the pieces, and then placing the bends in the appropriate places and drilling holes...

    Delta Saucer (29mm)

Tried to post this a few times, so if there are multiple replies, sorry... I think that the concept of dragging standard vs delta is interesting.. I would guess that the standard would get off the pad faster and come down a little more quickly as well... Only one way to find out.... and as...

    Delta Saucer (29mm)

You drag raced Smileys?! Heh.. Nirvana IS attainable here on earth... I would have loved to have seen that...It would even be worth it to me to build another one and race myself...I'd be guaranteed at least a second place finish...

    Delta Saucer (29mm)

Got a couple of 18mm versions from AA and flew them recently.. not quite the noise and smoke of the G35's, but they're still a lot of fun and great to fly... I'm becoming a saucer junkie...:p Next project... The Lampshade of Death!

    Delta Saucer (29mm)

I think I'll do exactly that.. pick up a 12".... and probably an 18mm version too...in fact.. just saw an mpeg of a L3 version...hhhmm... :p
