    how thick is thin

Who has stuck the calipers to modern fiberglass tubing? It looks to me like "thin wall" tends to be 1.6mm or less, while "traditional" or "thick wall" tends to be over 2.0mm in thickness. Obviously that varies with tube diameter and I am only looking at 38-98mm here. I am not looking for a...

New AT motors certified this month

Wow the O5280 is finally certified? I think it was going to be "next month" for about three years there.

Fin Alignment - What went wrong?

I purposely did my Dark Star by hand, hoping small imperfections would accentuate fin whistle. It does not seem to have any real effect, either on whistle or performance.

Glassing the inside of an Av bay coupler...?

I have built switches or antennas permanently into the inside of couplers before, could imagine using a layer of fiberglass to cinch it all together or cover up surface irregularities too.

    Wildman's holiday sales

The H550 is a major pain because the same designation applies to two motors, both super thunder but one DMS and one reload. Similarly it used to be impossible to buy a K650 pink because when you clicked on it you got the smoker with the same name instead. Of course, maybe both were missing...

Anyone using an apogee delay of more than 2 seconds on the redundant altimeter?

Payload deployments and hail mary charges, both of which are more common outside of sport flights.

    Iron Bowl

I do not generally watch college football but this looks like it is shaping up to be quite a season. Wisconsin has to get in! I thought that was the entire premise of the playoff system, if a prominent team is undefeated they deserve a shot. I was having an excellent burger and beer and Mich...

I say try again in a few hours. It was like calling a radio station for sweepstakes this morning.

Self taught "rocket scientist" plans to launch himself........

He sounds like one of those boners that use fluctuating definitions of words to "prove" the existence of whatever deity they believe in.

Same. I know the information is out there, but it can be so difficult to find, and to know who to trust.

What did YOU buy over the Black Wed/Fri/Sat sales ?

I cleared Wildman out of 75mm2G reloads, which sounds more impressive than saying I got two of them. But then I had to go and buy a half dozen 54/1706 reloads and a Dominator 4. I probably want something from MAC and Cris, too.

    silly undecided MAC novice

I think I ought to try out a MAC kit. Four inch is good. I cannot decide between the Zodiac and Scorpion. 54mm is probably good since these seem so light I could easily fly them on 38mm, and adapting 75mm to 38mm sounds like a mess. As a result the fiberglass nose is probably not necessary...

    Wildman's holiday sales

Hah, your wallet will curse us now but your eyes and ears will thank us on launch day! Say, is there a set time when this sale ends? Sorry if I missed it, everyone was so focused on the start.

Thoughts on the new madcow nike-apache as first hpr 2 stager?

Definitely. I have personally been through three of them on one rocket.

    Wildman's holiday sales

In my estimation the K456 and L850 are Aerotech essentials. The L850 in particular is an absolutely beautiful burn.

    high temp epoxy

Awesome, thanks. I could still use more information but that is a heck of a lot more than the virtual nothing I had! It looks like ES6209 was one of the product names I was looking for, and comes from Aeropoxy. What is the popular Cotronics product for this type of work? Their 4700 sounds a...

    Wildman's holiday sales

The sale explicitly calls out in stock and in progress only. The web site gives the impression that it is reporting what is in stock. What is in progress?

    high temp epoxy

Is either Rocketpoxy or 4500P up to the level of ES-whatever number, or whatever Cotronics product is popular for serious aero heating?
