    Found Fins

They seem to be laser cut, so I assumed from a kit. I'll look at some other Madcow kits and see if I can figure it out. I may just follow @cbwho 's advice and glue 'em on to something.

    Found Fins

A donor brought a box of rocketry stuff to one of our club's launches. I found these fins: Very Space age. Any idea what they're from? If the kit is in Rocksim or OR I can steal the fins and start coming up with designs...

    Big Bertha Trivia

The original plans showed a pointed nose cone. The Semroc Vega is essentially the original Big Bertha design.

Why is My Spray Paint Going On with a "Grainy, Sandy" Texture?

I wet sand with 600 or 800 and put another coat on. Usually looks fine.

    What telescope do you own?

I tried an inexpensive eyepiece camera, the Svbony SV105. I mostly take pics of the moon. I tried one of the software programs, but I mostly just use the camera app on my Chromebook. The power seems to be about equal to a 10mm eyepiece. I do use a moon filter most of the time. I'm...

    What telescope do you own?

Is this your scope? https://www.telescope.com/Orion-SkyScanner-100mm-TableTop-Reflector-Telescope/p/102007.uts A 15mm eyepiece would be right in the middle of what you have, so 26.67X. I think I would go bigger, to, say, a 32mm, or go smaller, such as 6mm eyepiece. A 32mm will give you...

    What telescope do you own?

I posted in that thread last year. I decided my little scope was too small, so I started Googling how to build a scope. I found https://stellafane.org/stellafane-main/tm/dob/index.html and https://garyseronik.com/category/telescope_making/ to be helpful. I found a 114mm f8 (4.5") mirror set...

Here's the MS: http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-balsa-nose-cone-bt-60-2-6-elliptical-sem-bnc-60ms/ Here's the L: http://www.erockets.biz/semroc-balsa-nose-cone-bt-60-3-1-rounded-ogive-sem-bnc-60l/ Even though those are balsa, they are the same size. L is Ogive and MS is elliptical. See...

Is ejection charge strong enough to eject capsule?

Is ejection charge strong enough to eject capsule?

Hope it wasn't too messy. Will it fly again, with a fresh volunteer?

Is ejection charge strong enough to eject capsule?

Thank you. I like birds, so I have been painting my builds to reflect color schemes and putting bird decals/stickers on some of my rockets. I have a Goldfinch and a Chickadee. Working on a Blue Jay and a Cardinal. I just bought a Loc IV and think I should paint it black and call it the...

Is ejection charge strong enough to eject capsule?

Little late to reply, but I had some BMS BT-80 around, so I ordered a nose cone and built a variant of the rocket. No coupler needed. Longer motor tube, 3 centering rings, papered the fins, through the wall fin tabs. Decided a payload bay would be useful, so made the top 6" into one:

    Beautiful Twilight, Sad Recovery

That is an amazing shot. I know Apogee says the nosecone loop is reinforced on the Zephyr, but I don't trust those loops.

    Level 1 Rockets

I'm keeping the rockets smaller for now. For a 4" rockets, the Yank Iris is 77" and 5.5#, compared to 47" and 2# for the LOC IV. Point taken. I decided to get the LOC IV. I may get the V2 anyway.

    Level 1 Rockets

I got my Level 1 last summer, flying an Estes Leviathan on an H115 DM. While I enjoy flying it, it's really more a midpower bird. I'm thinking I should build a real Level 1 rocket and fly it on Hs and Is. I was looking at the LOC IV, which looks very straightforward, but I saw the 4" V2 and...
