Anyone flown an Estes Big Daddy on 38MM hardware?

Been playing with his for about a year, off and on. I cut my fins from 1/8 birch ply, rings modified LOC, 38mm phenolic mount, Aeropack retainer, MAC Performance nose cone bay kit will hold a Missileworks tracker.

    HiFlier XXL is HUGE.

I'm a big fan of this design. Built an upscale scratch build from Estes PSII 2" diameter components. Photo shows that with a BT60 Estes build as well as this 3 inch upscale discussed here. Very nice kit with excellent components for $95. The vinyl alone is $28. The nosecone should have been...

    CTI Discussion Thread

I hope you all do not consider my comment a "grouchy complaint" or "venting". I will always use CTI motors. Have at least twenty from 24mm F30 to 54 mm K750 ready to launch. They will fly at MWP. Yes... welcome to the forum.

    CTI Discussion Thread

I fly CTI about 70% of my flights. 24 to 54mm. Lots of reasons.... performance and ease of assembly and disassembly. Though not happy with the 38mm one and two grain issues and need for user modifications. I fly two grain 38's a lot. Best resolution is to return to vendor for a replacement...

    Estes executioner build mods

With through the wall fins you really do not need ply centering rings in this light rocket. The rings and fins share the thrust load. You may consider papering the kit fins as an alternative to ply or bass wood. I fly a Big Daddy on CTI F50 skids regularly with these mods. Upgrade the...

    Super Big Bertha construction tips?

Wood glue is more than adequate for the overall build, though the kit supplied coupler turned into a baffle was glued in with epoxy to prevent grabbing. Fin assemblies should be weighted on a flat surface imediately after laminating. With though the wall fins, the fins take most of the thrust...

Estes Pro Series II Doorknob Build

Those rail buttons are perfect for that kit. Suggest the forward rail button be placed just ahead of the front CR... just enough to allow the t-nut to clear the CR. The aft button can be placed below the aft CR just enough for the t-nut to clear the CR. It appears there is enough room for the...
