Bill Nye, The Home Run Derby, and sciency stuff

Thanks folks, that was pretty straightforward after all. It would appear that I picked up some invalid assumptions along the way.

Bill Nye, The Home Run Derby, and sciency stuff

I'm hoping some of you watched the Home Run Derby last night. Bill Nye was in the commentator booth for a while and gave some insights on physics as they relate to baseball. There was one topic that I found somewhat confusing - or contradictory to my understanding. Bill spoke to how a struck...

Hope things are getting better on the medical emergency front. An update on production restart would be appreciated.

Why NOT to use automated car washes

I can't be the only one that calls automated car washes Meat Grinders, right???

L1/L2 Super DX3 Build (After the Fact)

Congrats! With two water landings you have a good basis for rocket-naming inspiration. I got my L2 on a rocket I call Swamp Thing based on pre-cert flights

    could you...?

Possibly, but your plan would be foiled by vampire-approved sunblock. https://www.vulture.com/2011/08/see_an_ad_for_true_blood-theme.html And Rex, you seem like a nice guy but a small part of me hates you now for prompting me to do Google searches that landed me at pregnancy boudoir photos...

    Rocket stand Ebay expensive price?????

Shouldn't we take a moment to acknowledge the most interesting thing in that ebay posting is the sweet, stretched Leviathan?

    Foam and internal fillets

I'm sure there are 100 threads on fillet v. foam but the OP seemed to have already made the decision to foam.

How to (re)build a Rocketry Warehouse Formula 200 booster.

Whoa whoa whoa, don't leave us in the dark here. There is critical information that many TRFers need to know - err.... did the shirt survive?

    Foam and internal fillets

Foam it. You don't need internal fillets with foam for this rocket. Doing your external fillets before foaming, however, will ensure the foam doesn't weep out around the fin slot.

Weight Loss Options & Sleeve Gastrectomy is Not One of Them!

I'll share another perspective for your consideration. I've never been fat. I'm 6' and at most have weighed 180lbs - primarily when I've put a heavy focus on strength training. My average weight is in the 160-165lbs range. That might make me wildly unqualified (or wildly qualified, lol) on...

    Giant Leap Rocketry "Hardpoint" Question

You are on the right track for your recovery point. You can mount this once based on a position that accommodates the longest motor casing that will fit in the airframe, which eliminates the need to move the Hardpoint back and forth within this rocket. The caveat is to ensure you have ample...

    Dude Perfect Model rocket battle!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't think I've ever seen rockets as something purely fun for me personally. Or, perhaps stated a better way, fun has not been the goal of my involvement. I've usually been motivated for a sense of accomplishment and learning something new over sheer joy. In that sense, I think you are...

Thanks for the response. Makes sense to me.

Mega Der Red Max HPR and rharshberger style

Very nice and detailed build thread so far. I like the layout. Can you please speak to the rationale for the av-bay tube in one of your next posts? I'm not sure what advantage that tube gives over just having the electronics in the nosecone without the tube, unless it is part of the design...

    Recall of AT M1350 motors

It would appear that the DMS lot codes align with how AT creates numbers for reloads - MM/DD/YY/BatchRun#.

    Recall of AT M1350 motors

Agreed. Though the motorcato.org report says to check the last digit, I do not believe these are from a stash of motors made 15+ years ago. Wildman had long delays getting the M1350 from Aerotech to fulfill BS orders placed in Nov 2016, which is further anecdotal evidence that these motors...

Last Jedi Movie Discussion Thread: SPOILERS Enter At Your Own Risk

I had a lot of thoughts on this one. My very first was an expletive that this was Empire Strikes Back 2.0. The Force Awakens mirrored A New Hope in plot so closely that it was at points laughable, and sure as the day is long The Last Jedi starts with rebels in a remote base that has been...
