Finished my Madcow 2.6" DX3.

I am going to try and trade weekends at work so I can make it out for this one. Estes Nike Smoke and Leviathan are ready to go. The 2.6" Madcow DX-3 is in the paint shop so will also be ready. My 29mm Estes Big Daddy should be ready by then. I am ordering some parts tonight for my stretched...

I'll also recommend the Cosmosphere in Hutchinson. It was fantastic. The SR-71 is very dramatic, and the collection of Soviet space items is terrific. Liberty Bell 7 and Apollo 13 capsule as well. Great stuff.

Estes Mini-Bertha about 1976 or 1977. I know I couldn't drive yet and we were all out on our bikes to chase the rockets down. In a flash of brilliance I painted it camouflage! I think I lost it on the third launch.

When I built mine I decided the way the fins and centering rings interlocked was plenty strong enough and just did a lot of internal epoxy. I thought external fillets would spoil the scale look, as the real Nike Smoke didn't have them. I spread CA over the entire interior of the fins but...

That jig looks cool! How big of a body tube will it hold? How much? When available? Is that two separate jigs or is it convertible?

Thanks for the kind words on KONA BLUE. It is just painted with Rustoleum 2X Navy Blue. First flight will hopefully be at the DARS launch on 12/13!

I picked up a Madcow fiberglass Mini Cowabunga. Didn't need it it, but I've never built a fg rocket before so it should be a learning experience. Research marches on!

For me MPR is a nice hybrid of Modrocs and HPR. I built a stock Estes Nike Smoke that really was no different construction wise from the Mini-Bertha I built right before it. Then I built a Leviathan and used a bunch of techniques and parts that will be useful toward getting my L1 with a LOC IV...
