How accurate do you expect model measurements to be?

I used to be absolutely hard-nosed for perfection when it came to building scale model rockets. Nowadays with advancing age, I usually go for sport scale; precision measurements aren't so important as long as the shape is close to the actual prototype. Excellent craftsmanship and a good flight...

Saturn V from Arkansas [Estes #2157]

I built and flew a straight-out-of-the-box Estes Saturn V (#2001 - the one with the card stock stringer sections) for the opening flight of NARAM-31 in Manassas, Virginia way back in 1989. That day was cloudy and windy, and she barely made a 'pop-gun' flight on an Estes D12-3 of about 200 feet...

    ARCAS scratch build help

The ARCAS had the option of two nose cones; the No. 5A secant ogive and the No. 8 tangent ogive. Most common was the 5A. See the plan below.

Photo etch perts for 1/96 Saturn V service module.

For finer details that are not part of the structure, a four-inch scale measurement is relatively insignificant.

    Cajun Sounding Rocket

This is the Nike-Apache on static display outside the air terminal building at Roi-Namur on Kwajalein Atoll. Not shown in these pictures is the Nike fin can, which is missing - it corroded away over the years and was never replaced.

Minuteman III ICBM Destroyed During Test Launch

Reentry over Kwaj happens in the dark of night; the long exposures make it look like twilight. The lights in the background are of Ebeye Island.

Minuteman III ICBM Destroyed During Test Launch

I used to work at the Huntsville (Alabama) Remote Operations Center (ROC) tracking and scoring Minuteman III 'Glory Trip' test launches from Vandenberg AFB to Kwajalein and in a few cases all the way to the broad - and extremely deep - ocean areas off the coast of Guam. Without getting into the...

    IQSY Tomahawk Sport Scale Bash

Back in the day when dinosaurs roamed the earth and I used to work for AeroTech a little over 25 years ago we built a pre-production IQSY Tomahawk that we flew in competition with a hand-turned basswood (or some other kind of hardwood) ogive nose cone. Still have it in storage in the garage...
