Trying to get in touch with UKRA

Hi Bill, I’m not the Membership Secretary these days but I have just checked for you and your paperwork was sent on Sunday. It was waiting on the photo for the card apparently. You have apparently been sent an email. I’m afraid I don’t check here very often. Too many places on the Internet to...

Help! Trying to ID a kit from yard sale?

Bought a nice partially assembled rocket from a yard sale as you do... trouble is nobody can identify it. I think it is a US manufacturer. Anybody got an idea? 24 “ payload 9” ebay 3” diameter g12 wound fibreglass 48” main 12” fin root 4” fin 3.75” nosecone shoulder 15” payload top to tip 54mm...

    Rocketry in Slovakia

There's a bit of HPR in the UK but Cesaroni and Hybrids only. No Aerotech these days. There are five or six clubs who have launch days every month. You can fly HPR in UK with the UKRA/NAR reciprocal cert recognition.

Information about starting a new rocketry club

Thanks for answering this Phil. I got your email nolen and have been a bit busy with work. Was trying to find someone to work through it with you. One key consideration is what sort of rockets you want to fly? Modroc or HPR?

Not quite sure if this was a cato or shred...

We checked that. It was made earlier than the affected batches.

Not quite sure if this was a cato or shred...

Hi! Casing has been found by the farmer. Looks like it blew out the top end/forward closure as it's opened up both spacer and casing. Nozzle looks normal to me and all grains burnt. Malc has it so give him a call to talk about it. The casing is otherwise normal in all respects. Fin can got...

I can't be the only person who wondered why CTI made a P24 classic. Bit of a slow burner eh :)

    LOC Fantom modifications

It's a DIY LoRa 434Mhz GPS radio tracker. Sends me GPS position of the rocket if I am within 2 miles or so of it. The GSM tk102 ones are fine if you're sure of mobile phone signal on the ground. I've been told if you buy an Isle of Man telco sim over the Internet it will connect to all UK...

    LOC Fantom modifications

Doesn't have to be bigger = expensive motors. Going small is a challenge in itself. Launched a Cirrus successfully last year on a 2G 38mm VMax and it just teleported. Didn't even get a picture as it was there one microsecond and not there the next. Would have lost it if it wasn't for the radio...

    LOC Fantom modifications

The J410 will certainly have some blowback that close to the blast plate. Would move it further away next time. A few wraps of electrical tape a bit higher up would do the job. I can't remember if you fibreglass wrapped this one but if it was solely loc cardboard it's done well :) K1440 min...

    Hi from the UK

Welcome from here too. If IRW is too far then there is always BigEARS on the first may bank holiday in Cambridgeshire. Check the events page at www.ukra.org.uk for what's happening in rocketry in the UK. There's a launch at EARS this Sunday if that's not too soon. There's also a UK specific...

2 meter rail. Smooth and greasy. Not the rail. Someone did say it could be asymmetrical nozzle erosion so am pulling the spent motor and taking a look at the nozzle.

Launched it again today in the Midlands. Upped from 2G to a 3G white thunder I408. Cocked hard right off the top of the rail and it wasn't windy. Wonder if that means it needs more nose weight. Thanks to Pete Barratt for the pics.

No vid unfortunately but here is a photo of the launch. Took it nice and easy on a 2G Pro38 White thunder for this maiden. Flew nicely. The delay was slightly long compared to prediction so will take it down a second or two for next flights.
