    Sold Rocket Kits

I don't seem to be into rocketry anymore, so I thought I'd get rid of some things. These kits had not been unboxed until I pulled them out today to take pictures. 1. SOLD - Madcow MiniPike 1.6" FG - $65 2. SOLD - Madcow Nike-Apache 2-stage FG, 4" booster, 38 mm sustainer - $250 3. Rocketry...

    Looking for a wire recommendation

Yeap, I definitely made the rookie mistake. My brake line end is flush with the CR. When I was trying to figure out how this was going to work, I was eyeballing it and I thought there was no way there would be room for the brake line aft of the last CR. So tonight I flipped my fully...

    Looking for a wire recommendation

Jim, thanks for the detailed reply. I don’t have a picture handy, but if I ran my brake line down to the motor retainer, it would interfere with the ISC. I wouldn’t be able to slide the ISC up into the body tube of the 2nd stage. How does it work on that rocket you have shown?

    Looking for a wire recommendation

Ttabbal - I’ll try pulling it through with some fishing line. That sounds like a good idea. Tim - What makes the wire single use? I bought a quick disconnect from adept rocketry for the break point when the drogue charge goes off and I was thinking of taping the wire to the inside of the...

    Looking for a wire recommendation

I'm about to install the motor mount in the upper stage of my Double Shot. I have a 3/16" steel brake line that is about 2 feet long. I wanted to install the wire before I glued the motor mount in the body tube. I don't really know much about wire so I ordered some off of Amazon...

    Madcow Cowabunga Mammoth build

Forget about rail buttons. This rocket is begging for a fly-a-way rail guide. :)

    Madcow Cowabunga Mammoth build

I know it’s too late now, but that would have been a good rocket for a cluster of 2 or 3 75 mm motors.

Retrofit a Warlock with a Cluster Mount?

Just epoxy the new motor mounts to the outside of the body tube in between the fins and glue a NC in the top of each one. What’s a little extra drag on a Warlock?

The Squirrel 2--- almost perfect flight.

Cool flight. I’m intrigued by your crazy looking launch pad.

If the railroad tracks don’t work, google AVRO Orenda ring.

    Madcow Formula 98 - L2 cert build

I've flown that antenna in a Formula 75 a few times and haven't had issues with it. Of course that doesn't mean it couldn't break off next time. One option would be to extend the plywood sled so the antenna is supported by the sled and then wire tire the antenna to the sled. The mini-egg...

    Madcow Formula 98 - L2 cert build

This is what I had in mind. I used an angle bracket to mount the tracker sled directly to the NC bulkhead. No need for a tracker tube.

    Madcow Formula 98 - L2 cert build

I love the Cnc plywood pieces. However I would mount the tracker sled directly to the tracker base and just get rid of the FG tube.

    L3 4" Frenzy

I used 1515, but I agree that 1010 would have been sufficient.

    L3 4" Frenzy

I just finished and flew a 4" DX3-XL which is similar in size. Two rail buttons is plenty, you don't need a third.

    French Monica Sounding Rocket

That's interesting how the fins are different on each stage.

Building a 6 ft replica of the Higgs Farm Square Rocket

Have you considered doing the recovery the same as the full size rocket - separate chutes for the NC and the main rocket. It would be a nice way to really model the original.

Fins too close to engine blast?

That's a great nosecone. The biggest problem that many have with fins hanging off the back is they tend to be more susceptible to damage upon landing.
