Rocketry Design Team - Rail Exit Velocity Help

This sounds like USLI. We were in a similar boat recently, and dropped three pounds from the rocket by swapping to a lighter nose cone from PML. But yes, more details about the rocket would help give relevant advice as to where you could be losing weight -- as others have said, drag is...

Sold Aerotech hardware and Raven3 altimeter for sale

Hi everyone, Sorry for the delays, it's been an absolute hectic time here in between apartments, and this has fallen through the cracks. Everyone's stuff is shipping out this morning, I'll send tracking numbers along.

Sold Aerotech hardware and Raven3 altimeter for sale

Not going to be in a position to pursue HPR for a while, so I'm getting rid of some of my big-ticket items: Raven 3 (flown once), along with a Power Perch with magnet (never flown). Raven is $120, Power Perch is $25. $135 takes them both UPDATE: Raven is gone, Power Perch still available...

    Lakeroadster's Lifting Rocket

Yeah, if you want to go to the trouble to CFD it, you can, but for the purposes of our hobby, the output of Open Rocket or similar tends to be good enough. In industry, CFD and mechanical CAD are really in two different domains so it makes since that they're separated out like that. I studied ME...

    Lakeroadster's Lifting Rocket

Don't have any personal experience with that software, but it seems that should be possible. https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/cfd-forum/force-location-and-center-of-pressure/td-p/6613403 Also reading further up this thread for your motivations in asking this question, Inventor dynamic simulation...

Rail Button placement on a weird rocket

A rail has a slot on all four sides. On tricky shapes like this, I've done two buttons at 90 degrees from each other. You need to plan your geometry carefully (having access to either a small length of rail yourself, or CAD to plan it out, is helpful), but you could put your top button on the...

    Lakeroadster's Lifting Rocket

It's more geared towards physics of dynamic mechanisms like linkages or geartrains, but yes, Inventor will do dynamic simulations. I've used it to simulate mechanisms for things like strap-on booster attachment points in the past. It will also do Finite Element Analysis based stress analysis...

    Fiber centering ring material

Knew it had to have some kind of proper brand name that'd make it easier to find. Thanks!

    Fiber centering ring material

Is there a good source for raw sheets of the black "fiber" material used in a lot of low power centering rings by Fliskits, BMS, and others? And does anyone know if this material plays nicely with laser cutters?

Fliskits coming back soon under license?

Seconded, even for some of the more obscure/less popular kits. Been getting back into rocketry after 7-ish years away and had a TON of fliskits on my "to build" list when I left, was saddened to see that purchasing them was no longer an option.

Fliskits coming back soon under license?

For kits which are not granted a full re-release, will we be able to download resources like instructions, fin templates, source files for laser cut sheets, etc. if we wish to piece one together on our own?
