    Recent Estes Kits

Saturday's launch was windyier than I like, 10-15mph. Launched the Expedition on a D12 and it flew great. Arced over and ejected just after apogee. Wanted to try it on an AP E15 but we had a lot of rockets going into the corn at the edge of the field.

    Recent Estes Kits

Expedition is built and will fly this weekend. Twin Factor just arrived but Halloween decorating may keep me from getting it built in time. Keep these great innovative kits coming, John.

Words that have changed their meaning over time.

During WWII the term "Good enough for government work" meant it was of the highest quality. After most of the work done for the government was going to the war effort and nobody wanted shoddy materials going to the boys overseas. Now it simply means something is just barely good enough to get...

Looking for Rocketry clubs in NW OHIO?

The club in Toledo disappeared several years ago. I know of one rocketeer who recently moved to Toledo, so a new club ma be in the future. The Skybusters field in Amherst would only be around an hour drive for you, but it is currently under about 5 feet of corn. We'll be back in October...

New guy Intro & PML Bull Puppy motor retention

I put an Aero-pac retainer on my Bull Puppy but wanted to reduce the length it stuck out he boattail. I used a dremel tool to expand the hole enough so it just fit over the retainer's OD. Worked well and gave me what I wanted. Check out stickershoc23.com for a wide variety of vinyl decals...

    removable fins?

When Steve Eves flew is 1/10 scale Saturn V he had removeable fins that were bolted on for flight. I've seen a level 3 bird with fins that could be secured with a bolt/screw attachment through the aft centering ring. I have a baby bottle I fly that has clear fins. I got tired of repairing it...

    Full Size Comanchee III

You won't need to up-scale it. The original was in a BT-50 and the first stage motor was a D1-0. The usual problem was getting the second stage to light since it transitioned from 24mm to 18mm, but once you got past that little hurdle it was a great high flying rocket. Best wishes on hour...

Talk with them and present the positive side of rocketry. Bring NAR flyers, TARC flyers and other documents and references to support that this is a fun, safe hobby. Stress these aren't fireworks and that rocketeers routinely leave their flying fields cleaner than when they arrived. Good...
