Rocket Track - Open Source GPS Tracker for Smartphones

I have built one and it was very similar to the full sized version and wasn't that much more difficult. Just like the original it works perfectly. The key to all of this is patience and flux. There are a very few parts that are different but 90% of them are the same.

    SL-100 reporting after power up

That means it's working perfectly as designed. Put a jumper in each place, drogue and or main and the beep sequence will change according to the configuration you are in. Give it a try. Good to know and hear what you are listening for at home vs on the feild for the first time.

    Drogue size

The drogue keeps the nose cone and payload section higher than the main airframe. That helps in keeping the main chute from getting tangled when it deploys. The speed is not as much of a factor as it the position of the parts during decent. Some people go drogue less but you loose control of...

Antenna Placement in EBay for GPS

I wasn't even thinking of those issues. Good point. I was concerned about the threaded rod and the aluminum end caps and that blocking / decreasing the transmission range of the GPS, since the antenna and threaded rods are parallel. The antenna has a joint at the mounting and I may be able to...

Antenna Placement in EBay for GPS

I am finishing up a minimum diameter project and starting to layout the electronics bay and I wasn't sure if the placement of the tracker in the bay with the threaded rod and aluminum bits would mess with the tracker. I can't put it into the nose very easily as that's where the some of the chute...
