    BEWARE: CAVEMAN ROCKETRY

I grabbed the following from Paypal's fraud protection faq - in case it turns out the transatlantic shipping isn't the issue and you want to file a claim. (assuming of course you paid with paypal). How do I know if I’m purchasing an eligible item on eBay? Look for the buyer protection...

    Show Off Your Spray Booth!

My super low-tech method - but suits my needs fairly well. The dowel that feeds through the bt has a couple of pieces of medium density foam rubber cut to fit inside the tube so that the rocket will spin when the dowel is turned.

    29mm and 38mm Forstner Bits

Thanks guys. I think i'll go the CMT bits route. I do have a drill press but the manual states numerous times that circle cutters/fly cutters should not be used. I believe the issue is that the slowest speed I can tune the press down to is 300 rpm which may be unsafe for those types of...

    29mm and 38mm Forstner Bits

I like making my own centering rings and currently use a 1 and 1/4" forstner bit and then a sanding jig to fit the body tubes. The minor issue I have is the 1 and 1/4" bit is just a fraction too big for the 29mm MT so some extra epoxy is needed to hold them in place. I found a company that...

At LAST a HI SHINE from a can!!!!!!!!!

Your results may vary....I was hoping to finish off my modified Loc Onyx paint job with a nice protective high gloss coat. (I quickly learned that the metallic paints I was using were highly prone to smudging/denting). I'm sad to report that in my case the Plaid Hi Gloss Glaze dramatically...

    Rocketry/Aeronautic/Aerospace Degree/Career Options

Thanks AK, it's just that At 16 years old, all we know at this point is that rocketry, robotics, electronics, top the list of his passions. I'm sure he'll eventually choose a degree/career path that he discovers suits him best. We were just trying to gather as much information about his options...

    Rocketry/Aeronautic/Aerospace Degree/Career Options

We also have a bright and enthusiastic high schooler looking towards a future related to the fields of aerospace/aeronautics and the many challenges that he'll face to get there. We also have some of the same questions as Rob. As we know, life rarely turns out the way we plan and we all know...

    Rocket Building Attention Span

As it's my first build, (Loc Onyx), I figured it best to finish the one before launching into full scale production. (current status - in the paintbox).

taking finishing to the next level

Wow, being new to this I have to say that the amount of info here is simply mind boggling! Thanks to everyone for sharing the wealth. I'm in the midst of building my first rocket (loc onyx) and perhaps didn't delve deep enough into the vat of knowledge before starting the painting process...

    Making nosecones

Thanks Micro for the tips - your lathe setup looks great. I'm off to the scrap bin and the Depot. Bummer about the expanding foam though. I knew I would have to make a bunch at once due to the need to kill the can, but thought mold release would do the trick.

    Making nosecones

I am very new to the rocketry hobby but am a professional amateur weekend tinkerer. My son is the true rocketeer and I've done what I can to help limit the costs (home made fins, centering rings, etc.). But it's the home made nose cone where I hit the wall. I don't have a lathe, and while...
