    My updated project

*your. Two can play that game. Of course, you were reading what I posted. What else would you've been reading? That's why I stated I could see where the confusion in my original post came from. Then I attempted to help you understand what I meant. Not sure if you still need help...

I can understand your concerns. Thanks for answering!

    My updated project

I was referring to BR because it is known that it is possible to fly over 100kft there. As in they have had 100kft+ altitude waviers before and are currently still able to fly that high. I was not commenting on him being able to get a waiver for his personal project, but merely the location in...

I am sorry, I did not understand the bolded part.

I think there is a lot you do not know. That was made obviously clear by your presentation. However, that's what learning and gaining experience will eliminate. If you're close or making the trek to FAR, why not just go to Black Rock... where they have 100kft+ altitude waiver's already in...

Listen, it is great to be young, have goals, and a sense of direction! A lot of youth these days are lacking that. However, you are just in high school and already talking about getting a doctorate degree. How do you eat an elephant? One bite at a time. Don't get ahead of yourself or it is very...

    [L3] Composite N5800 Flying Case, ~67kft MSL, M3.5

Thank you to everyone for the comments! I will have the video and some other things that I will post to this thread shortly. Thanks for the interest.

    [L3] Composite N5800 Flying Case, ~67kft MSL, M3.5

Bob, as others have said, I used a non-composite case. Per the rules of TRA, I can only use certified hardware and motors for a certification attempt. If this wasn't a certification attempt, then things would have been different. Thanks for the question. As far as the altitude of a N motor; you...

I've gotten a few requests about the ablative so I'll just post it here. I used resin, phenolic, titanium dioxide, and milled glass.

Yes, the Grade I used is 11, as in G11. That grade is not commonly used in amateur rocketry. You mostly see G-10 and/or G-10 FR4. There are also non-FR versions of FG btw. G-11 is simliar to G-10 FR4 but has a higher operating temperature and retains 50% of its mechanical properties at...

    [L3] Composite N5800 Flying Case, ~67kft MSL, M3.5

Thank you! Yeah, what I did was akin to a caveman whacking something with a stick lol. However, my thought was that the level of exposure would only increase during a real flight and since the G11 held up better than the phenolic at a slower flow, it just might remain constant. Nothing beats...

Probably the only useful thing you could contribute to this thread; thank you for contributing. Learn something new everyday. Fixed. Cheers. Sinse you care about grammar; capitalize the beginning of your sentence.

Would you do anything differently? Sure. If I were to reattempt this or start it over from scratch, there are a handful of things that I would do differently. Here they are: Use a thinner wall fincan tube. I used a 0.125" wall tube. I would of preferred using a 0.0625" wall tube. In...

    Rocksim for 1/6 Patriot PML

Here are the patriot PML rocksim files. If you cannot find a 1/6 then use the rocksim program and rescale the rocket. I believe rocksim has that as a feature. If not then OpenRocket might and it is a matter of saving it as a different file and then using it in rocksim (if you're stuck on using...

I typically target 27inHg when pulling on a t2t. I think, I ended up pulling 25inHg on this one because of old tape. I reuse my bags and tapes and can get anywhere from 5 to 8 uses out of them. Practically speaking, you cannot pull too much vacuum on the typical hobby setup and the typical hobby...

Thank you to everybody who responded! Thanks. I remember following your thread years ago - I was rooting for you against all those anti-composite types. That competition expired in 2015 - but to answer your question, no. I am done with the N5800 lol. My interest lie beyond commercial motors...

So in the rush of the moment I did not take much pictures prior to launch. It went like this - sand the fincan in a brunos hotel room, bond the fincan to the motor case, prep. the BP charges, assemble the rocket... all in one day. Might not sound like much but sanding the ablative off in a hotel...

Thank you very much Jim. Curious; what decisions did you re-enforce? There is without a doubt a handful of things that I would change. I am going to make a post dedicated to just that very question - so stay tuned. I just want to post about the flight prior to that.
