    Gliding Parachute Systems

Hi all, After what has been a bad year so far, I was finally able to fly this Parachute today aboard an NCR Lance Delta. Everything was packed in the rocket following the instructions in the manual. This is stressed in the manual so I guessed it was a good idea to follow procedure, Everything...

    Gliding Parachute Systems

This is my longer term plan to introduce a second servo to give elevator and rudder mix so I can play with angle of attack on decent. Full brake on landing to reduce sink rate. I'll be getting started on the Lance Delta when I get back from Xmas holidays soon, then aiming for test flight on...

    Gliding Parachute Systems

Hi all, For better or worse I am now an owner of a 32" gliding parachute. It is to be installed in a NCR Lance Delta, both of which arrived yesterday. Reading the instructions reveals nothing too onerous and seems straight forward. I'm thinking I will assemble as instructions at this point but...

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Hi All, this one has stalled a bit as I saw something shiny the other week and am getting that done. I have done the test gliding and I can say it flies. Have to figure out how to go some sort of launch system, Pete

I'm thinking the views would be a bit limited. Great home for a Gopher impersonator:)

Thank you very much gentlemen. I guess I can spend my spare time re thinking this project. Thanks again for all your input

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Thank you Mike,That is the feed back I was looking for. I am wondering if that instability could be corrected with down thrust in the motor. I understand the Phoenix RC glider was a similar layout to my scheme but of course that had RC to assist on the boost

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Thanks for your interest Marten. The idea here is that the motor burn should not affect the centre of gravity which I believe is an issue with a lot of boost gliders, that being the reason for trim tabs on that type of glider

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Basic construction is finished, wings and tail plane are held with elastic bands to give me some chance to adjust incidences on both wing and tail surfaces, I did a couple of test throws in the warehouse at work and I am very happy with the glide so far but will need to set a turn into the...

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Here is a photo showing my intended layout. The motor is the only one I have the right size to show layout. With the motor positioned here, there will be little CoG change with motor burnout

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

Got this far today. I hope to finish tomorrow and if the wind dies down will maybe get a few hand launches in to test the rigging and trim. Weight is to be around the 75 gram mark. There is also a substantial amount of incidence on the wing mount and wonder if that needs to be reduced a little

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

So far.I have almost finished the construction of the basic model as per the instructions I'm thinking a slot to be cut in the pod to fit a B something motor, Then got to wondering about thrust lines and incidences, So i now wonder if there is a knowledgeable soul out there that could assist...

Conversion of Hacker Pin to Rocket Glider

I was getting some gear from the LHS and came across this Free Fight Glider kit and figured a B motor would save the trouble of making a towline to launch,

I have built the Wright Flyer as a starter, even that was challenging. I did have the LM but messed it up. You have nearly inspired me to have another go at it. I also have the B-17, that looks like a serious mission

    The Argument Thread

Excellent effort chaps! I've only been offline a couple of hours and this is already a fun read. Do we now need a thread for being hit on the head lessons? Na, guess not, my builds always leave me feeling that I am hitting myself on the head. And it feels so good when I stop.

    Hobbyking Radjet 800 conversion

Hi again Rather than using an esc for ignition, get an RC kill switch. This is either off or on. For my current boost gliders this is what I prefer. These RC switches are used by the guys who fly with gasoline engines and are required to have a ignition kill switch on thier transmitters. I have...

    Hobbyking Radjet 800 conversion

Hi there, I did the same thing about 2 years age with the Multiplex Funjet. I think the the Radjet is a knock off of that design. I used the CoG from the instructions and had it set up a little tail heavy with a loaded motor, then needed some up trim to hold a reasonable glide. I also made...
