    Have you had this experience?

The guys who sometimes tease are also the guys who are always ready to hold the shrouds while I fold a 12" 'chute, help unload and load and answer questions that I am sure they have answered hundreds of times.

    -----

I am in utopia now. I'm retired, have enough money (despite the efforts of a gold digging second wife) to pay the bills and support my vices (beer and rockets). I go to bed when I'm tired, get up when I'm not. Work in the garden (and the rocket shop), build small furniture (and rockets), play...

Best Kevlar for LPR shock cord attachment?

+1 on thekevlarstore.com. I bought a 1000 foot spool of 100# yellow 3-4 years ago. I use it on all my rockets. On my single (so far) HPR I just doubled it. Still have at least half the spool left.

Three or Four Fins for > Mach 1?

Every missile that I have ever seen has four fins, Why is that? Military missles have active guidance. The fins have moveable control surfaces to steer the rocket in flight. Having matched fins in two planes gives both pitch (up and down) and yaw (left and right) control. It can be done with...

    What to go for first???

If I was starting over I would recommend a 12 pack of Vikings. Build 2-3 with different fin sets. Then build a couple with 13mm motor mounts. You can make your parts or buy them. (My preferred parts suppliers are BMS (Balsa Machining Service) and Jon Rockets.) Get a balsa sheet or some...

Saving Balsa Scraps: OCD or not?

Of COURSE you save balsa scraps! I keep mine in plastic shoe storage boxes. One each for 1/16, 1/8, 3/16 and 1/4. Longer pieces are in a body tube shipping box. ericclinedinst mentioned that he traces the fin patterns for possible repair. I used to until I got a printer that is also a...

Need suggestions for easy Rockets to build.

BEWARE! A C motor in a Flutterby or Chuter Two will likely result in a sacrifice to the sky gods. Don't ask how I know.

Woud you be interested in a new Monthly Model Rocketry Magazine

A bi-monthly magazine or monthly? Prefer monthly, but financial considerations, especially for a print version, will decide. Online or in print or both? PDF is the way to go. Edits can be made the day before release, not six months in advance. A how to section? Three how to...

    it has been a while

A 24mm tube, actually 24.13mm, is an Estes BT50. Any vendor that carries parts will have them. They come 457.2mm (18 inch) long. Cut to whatever length you need.

    Centuri Fireflash

I picked up a box of rockets at a yard sale a while back and it included a Centuri Fireflash from the 1970's (KM-5 / 5305). The bag was opened but it seems to have all of the parts, but no instructions. Jim-Z has the kit listed as 'posted' but when I click on the icon I get a 404 error. Does...
