MMMSC IS ADDED Another Launch to Schedule - 29 August 2015

I will certainly Attend! I've finally sat down and fixed up all my HPR stuff, so I've got a need to burn some APCP. Also very happy to be an L1 witness.

the NavSpark GPS Arduino... 20 Bucks!

An EE friend turned me on to this: https://www.indiegogo.com/projects/navspark-arduino-compatible-with-gps-gnss-receiver Essentially, it is an arduino that has a GPS receiver built in... and for the absolute right price. I got the two-fer deal, and I will let everyone know how it goes. It...

    The Eggtimer - A full-function multiple-deployment flight computer for only $40

Sounds like you lifted a trace.... Try soldering it in from the other side. As with all complex electronic projects, it could be ANYTHING. But I'd put my money on that.

How about this for Kevlar(r) shock cord?

I once flew my altimeter one and a keychain camera on a cheap walmart kite.... It was so high I couldn't even see the kite anymore....what a video! Highly recommended. Also, thanks for the "kevlarstore" link. I've been needing a good source for that, I'm almost out of the smaller stuff.

How about this for Kevlar(r) shock cord?

A *REALLY* Impressive one..... One i'd like to see. And let's hope the poor guy flying it is tied to the ground! Actually, check out their site.... they have some pretty insane kites. It also looks like a great place to get Carbon Fiber rod for things like fin reinforcement.

New method of 2 stage 2 part recovery?

I agree with CarVac. Although it sounds entirely do-able, It's almost like re-inventing the wheel. You add 2X the complexity to arrive at the same-ish end result (If I understand your plan correctly). The again, great things have come from people trying new things people thought were...

Do they hire high school dropouts to design highways?

Where I go to college (Durham NH) our downtown area is a one-way road, and acts kind of like a traffic circle. there used to be a Yield sign at each entrance to the downtown circle, until the end of this year. Now, there isn't any sign at all at one entrance, a stop sign at one, and a yield...

    Keychain Camera not working?

Open it up and check if the battery is disconnected or puffed.... That's all that I can think of. From an Electrical standpoint, those cameras have so many cut corners that if they started square, they'd be a circle. This goes for alot of those "Mega Cheap" Chinese electronics. Filtering...

    The Eggtimer - A full-function multiple-deployment flight computer for only $40

Would a PCB footprint help? I'm working on an AV bay sled that accepts various altimeters using headers, and then screwing them down. I could start with the egg-timer, if you wish. It won't happen overnight, though.... College is a wonderfully time-consuming prospect....

    The Eggtimer - A full-function multiple-deployment flight computer for only $40

I usually purchase the bare crimps and connector housings, and then solder wires in instead of crimps. Crimp connections are evil IMHO and are he cause of all kinds of strange electrical happenings. They also won't pull out anymore. This also allows you to board-mount JST connectors, which is...

Best Way To Cut Out Centering Rings?

If you wish, PM me with your dimensions, etc, and I'll see if I can cut them out on my CNC engraving machine for you. I have used it already for numerous plywood centering rings, and it works great. With a little dust-collection I could presumably cut centering rings out of carbon-fiber and...

    Dual Deploy Newb Questions

Just an FYI.... If you are using something like Blue tube (Which you should, because it's awesome stuff) it is inherently threadable, and thus just use a normal machine screw threaded into a hole slightly too small for it. Same goes for the plastic nosecones. I bet you could do something...

    Ducted Internal Finned Experiment/ MADROC

I have been wanting to do this for a while. I will be watching this closely.

    Decreaminator!!!!

Now someone with a HPR one made out of 5-gallon buckets needs to get in here and we have the whole family picture!!! Nice job! I like it!

    Easy scratch launcher with controller.

That's actually a wonderful idea for angle adjustment.... Nice Pad!

Designing a fully-integrated Rocket Screamer Locator

100db is a very loose measurement, in fact... Most of the buzzers I'm looking at are 95db from an inch away. Now.... When you're tracking a rocket you are way more than an inch away. However, I can't find anything that runs on 3 to 5 volts with any higher output power. I'm working on a sorta...

Designing a fully-integrated Rocket Screamer Locator

Thanks for the link! I was going to simply charge the batteries in parallel but discharge them in series. A balancer and charger circuit isn't terribly complex or expensive, and the extra voltage will allow for a wayyyy louder buzzer.

Designing a fully-integrated Rocket Screamer Locator

Not as much progress as I would like, but progress at least. I will post my board design at some point. Depressingly, school has gotten in the way, so moving to the prototype stage has kind of gotten in the way. Too much learning, not enough rockets! I guess it is senior year though, so I can't...

New 24 pad Launch Controller for MMMSC

I still say setting up all the pads would be made (SUPER) easy with one of these: https://www.cartsonthego.com/hose-reel-carts We could just tie up all the cords... then walk backwards and lay down 6 at once! ;) All we need is enough people so each person gets one LPR or MPR pad, and...

    mmmsc sept 14

Scott, Seeing as there is very little actually current needed out to the HPR pads (100mA or so I surmise), I figure it would be possible to do runs of 7 pads at a time using a standard CAT5 Ethernet cable. This would decrease wiring amounts immensely. I could rig up a CAT5 "Octopus" with 7 male...
