    Sale of Semroc

While it saddens me that the company had to change hands I do look forward to being able to get the kits I wanted when Semroc closed.

    Fermi's Paradox

I'm in favor of 6 and 9. We're receiving the signals, we just don't recognize them for what they are.

My First Big Daddy! - My First Lawn Dart!

My Big Daddy still hasn't flown - yet. Given what I've been reading in this thread I think I'll do some surgery on the nose cone and cut off the tapered shoulder. Should have enough ply left over from my RC builds to make a nice bulkhead. Just need to get an eye bolt to attach the shock cord to...

    TRF Opinion Wanted

No experience, but have several on my wish list.

    Interstellar - Wow.

I very seldom go to the movie theater because the seats don't usually agree with my back. There are occasions when I tell my back to shut the heck up and go anyway. The Lord of the Rings movies for example. This will most assuredly be another one of those occasions. A film like this must be...

Wildman BlackSat....save some money for it....with it.

How about something for those of us who are budget-challenged? Maybe something in the Mini or Jr line?

    GUNS & ROCKETS

There are three rifles I passed by that I've always regretted. The first was a near-pristine 1903A3 that I passed on because I was saving the money for something else. The second was a Kar.98k that was in about 65% on the wood, 60% on the metal but had a spotless bore. I was looking for one that...

    Estes Halloween Sale

I'm hoping I'll be able to order some stuff on Saturday. Mega Mosquito, Photon Probe, maybe an Argent and a couple of others. What I need worse than anything is motors!

What did you do rocket wise today?

Finally bought some JB Weld and installed the motor retainer on my Super Flash.

Long term project: K&S Super Flash

While out doing errands I stopped by Auto Zone and picked up some JB Weld. The motor retainer is now installed! As far as construction goes this rocket is now finished!

Long term project: K&S Super Flash

Thanks, Kit! I used Frog Tape (yellow, for delicate surfaces) to mask the paint job. Not one single bleed-under to be found! Super happy with the way it worked.

Long term project: K&S Super Flash

Another tiny bit of progress. I've been dithering over the rail buttons that came with the kit. They're the 3 piece style and I've been wanting to get 1 piece instead. Finally just broke down and installed the ones it came with. No sense spending money I don't have too when I have something...

    Patching holes in ripstop nylon?

Here are photos of the holes in question with a 3"x5" index card for comparison.

What did you do rocket wise today?

Well, it was actually yesterday, but... I finished painting my K&S Super Flash!

    K&S Super Flash

K&S Super Flash. 54mm body, 38mm motor mount, 47.375" tall. Set up for dual- or single-deployment. Will be my L1 cert rocket. Paint is Krylon True Blue and Sun Yellow. Shares something in common with my Carl Goldberg Tiger 60 - totally unintentional! True Blue and Bright Yellow...

Long term project: K&S Super Flash

Well, at long last the Super Flash is finally painted! Got the last bits done today! K&S Super Flash - all painted up! Fin detail Nose detail There is a slight difference in the shade of the blue where it was sprayed over the yellow on the fin section and the white primer of the rest...

Long term project: K&S Super Flash

Finished up the yellow yesterday. Started putting on the three blue wedges. Comes out a bit darker on the yellow but eh, it is what it is. Decided in the interest of simplicity to just go with blue on the nose cone - that, and I'm really tired of dealing with yellow. There are still some thin...

    Patching holes in ripstop nylon?

The primary one I want to repair is an x-form 42" chute. I'd thought about contacting someone but money is really tight. I have ripstop on hand and my wife has a really nice sewing machine so I'll probably be giving it a try to see if I can do it myself.
