Yep, try gently warming it with a hair drier or heat gun. Wait 15-30 minutes and check it again. If it hasn't cured by then start scraping.

The fins were not anodized. The case was but I removed it with a lye solution. Interestingly the epoxy seems to have stayed bonded to the case....

I’m sure the damage is thermal. I think the tip needs a long shoulder that can be epoxied in place. Yes, I think an ablative is needed.
