My video rocket flights from a few years ago. (vid)

Howdy! A few years ago when I was building rockets with video cameras, I would post here. Well I moved onto planes and helicopters, but the other day, I dug out the video and uploaded it to youtube. Here it is: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QfGR5pspdAc Enjoy.

    ROCKSTER Video Rocket Build.

Hi, It has been about a year since I last flew any kind of rocket. I have been busy flying planes and stuff. A few of you may remember my experiments with flying solid state cameras - the 1st being the "BerthaCam" based on a big bertha. Well I have built another. It has spent the last 9...

    Rocket camera advice

Hi, Last year I built and flew a few rockets with mini digi cams. I wrote up a load of stuff and put it on my site. http://www.therocketproject.net/buildprojectpage.cfm?prjID=jiLaNIDobrivida&module=concept&category=Advanced%20Payloads...

    Pen Cams?

Hi, Yeah they are reliable :-) I even dropped one 500ft a few times and it was fine :-) They are tiny inside and use surface mount components so there is very little to shake loose. The only complaint I have with them is their shutter control. Move at high speed and you get blurs. They...

Tech Toys for wireless video! (Pics)

Hi. OK, All the kit has arrived for my 2004 rocketry exploits. 1. Pentium4 2.66Ghz Laptop with 15.1" TFT screen - nice and fast for capturing live video. 2. GrabBee III USB audio and video capture unit. Very compact and USB powered - gives excellent video quality and frame rates @...

    Wirless video rockets for 2004!

Howdy mike :-) Well IMO it is still too cold to go and fly, so it soon will be build time. I am chuffed I got a laptop as I can now get instant flight results in the field without doing 1 flight, trudging home and dl'ing the vid/pics. I am toying with the idea of video recording an...

    Wirless video rockets for 2004!

Hi, After the successes of the BerthaCam and Skyeye in '03 flying solid state video cameras, it is time for something new! I have a 2.4Ghz micro wireless camera & receiver, USB video capture unit and a 2.66Ghz P4 laptop. Hopefully I should be getting on with a new design for a rocket...

    Pencam questions

Flying pencams is cool, Took a few attempts to get it all working. As for the arming switches I used a bit of plastic and some tin foil. A bit home brew, but then again so is the rocket! From this page I also used a micro switch to toggle the cam mode. Steve.

    Pencam questions

Looking v.nice :-) How much does that thing weigh and are those 3 D motor tubes? Also I take it this is for taking photos rather than video... Those 1.3mp cams don't like highspeed rides - blurry photos. The best shots I got were when the payload was drifting down slowly under the chute. I...

    Pencam questions

In the Summer I flew a few pencam rockets, All the info and video I got has been compiled (sort of) on my site: (A 1.3MB cam does have a long refresh time, I use mine for video only). A 1K pencam has 0 refresh time and is cool for photography. 1.3 Pencam adventures: Here 1K Pencam...

    Paint

True, mixing brands can causes some nasty things to happen even if they say they are made out of the same stuff. I dunno what kind of range of auto paint you guys in the US have (probably makes our UK range look tiny) but they should have all the stuff you need. Steve C.

    Paint

Thats what I use. Infact all the painting I do is with auto paint - plus you get some cool colours, metallics, pearls etc... Steve C.

    Paint

I always use spray paint, Here in the UK I get all my paint from Halfords. The stuff is good, many colours and primers & and it dries fast! To get a pure glossy non streaky paint job like this: 1> Prime the rocket with a good spray primer. 2> Rub down the primer lightly and if...
