Ok, here's the story;

I ordered my first Fliskits a couple weeks ago, the Deuces Wild and a Richter Recker. I was so pleased with the kits and service and everything that I decided to get some more. I couldn't make up my mind what I wanted but wanted to get my order in by 9/30 for the free shipping. So I finally narrowed it down to the ACME Spitfire, Nomad, Praetor, another Richter Recker and 2 extra nose cones. (RR #2 and nose cones are for some scratch projects)
I placed my order the night of 9/29, close to midnight, which means Fliskits got my order the morning of the 30th. I attached a message saying "Jim, take your time, would love to get an overdue :)". The very next day, Oct. 1, my birthday, I get an email from Jim: "Just wanted to let you know we have shipped your order. Sorry, no overdue this time." Unbelievable, I thought. Then Oct. 3 the mail lady brings me a package, from Fliskits. Happy Birthday to me! Everything was there, perfect and beautiful. Ordered late Monday night, and received Friday. And they were supposedly swamped with orders that "could take 7-10 days to fill."
So you see, there is no Overdue kit. Jim just scratch built a prototype, made up this story about giving you one if your order is late, then he chuckles every time they ship an order :)

Now I just can't wait to build all these new toys. :D

Thumbs up once more to Fliskits!!

Yeah, that Jim Flis guy is one tricky dude - in a good way.

But, I hate to bust your theory, but Jim did make up a *few* Overdue kits. How do I know? I won one of the kits as a prize at the Whitakers fly-in back in April.

Now, the problem.... to build or not to build. It's such a prize, it almost makes me just want to hang onto it.

Decisions, decisions..... oh, the mental anguish !!!

I got one...'cause when I pre-ordered a Grissom they had a delay...so I WON!!

I got one too...
It's cool but I think it's going to stay a bag rocket!

Well, I order another Duece's Wild and a Praetor the last day of the free shipping...... The next day I received an e-mail from Jim telling me basically that they were backed up and the order would be shipped as soon as possible......I was sooooo glad, I thought I might have a chance to get an "overdue".......... Then only 2 days later he e-mails me again telling my order has been shipped!!!!!!!!!! So much for my overdue!!!!!!

And as far as the number of overdues out there...... I see only 3 so far...........(I may have to keep ordering stuff hoping he finally messes up!! LOL)

I guess I'm the only one that has built mine:)

So...Jim...do ya think maybe you could like maybe sorta kinda post plans for the Over Due...

Since only one person wanted to bother even opening the kit!

I would rather clone one than open mine!

Sorry sand.... :D no-can-do....

And, I am happy to report that come tomorrow morning (after a weekend of work), FlisKits will no longer be backlogged! Whew! It's going to take another day just to do the accounting! I am afraid to find out how much we spent on shipping!

It was a nice surprise however, to discover that we hit another all time record. For the month of september, our website received 700,000+ hits and over 3GB of information was downloaded. Hoping that next year we top 1,000,000 hits on our birthday month! Heck, so far for October, we've topped 80,000 hits.

with great disappointment I have to post my latest experience ordering from Fliskits: foiled yet again, no Overdue!!

I'm gonna keep trying though!!

but I also must mention this:

it was a sudden "oh ****", and a mad scramble late at night here on the Left Coast, it was still "September" by a couple hours, get on the web! might make the free shipping! whew! oops looks like paypal added on shipping. oh well!

next day was a nice email from Fliskits saying the order had shipped and although it was after midnight on the Right Coast and the website had been changed, Jim had refunded my shipping charge ($7).

so a big Thanks A Bunch!

it's "only" $7 and I am sure I will order that much more next time!

How are the fins arranged on the Overdue? Are there three larger tube fins with three smaller ones inside? The description says canted tube fins, but does this refer to the angle cut at the tops of the fins or am I missing something? I would love to have the kit to build and fly since I am into tube and ring fin designs. I am already thinking about building the Wyvern from the September DOM.

teflonrocketry1, that's a good description all around. The OverDue has 3 tube fins. Each fin is a tube cut at an angle and within it is another tube cut to the same angle.

It has a very sharp look to it and there is no question that we're going to have to produce a kit that employs that (heck, the folks here on TRF wouldn't have it any other way! :) )

Yeah, right backlog - took em all of three days to ship my Spitfire and Corona halfway across the country.

There must be some strange psychology employed here, but for some reason, don't get me wrong here Jim and all, I had never really considered the Tumbleweed. Now all I can do is replay the FlisKits movie and look at it as a stalker does some movie star! Once it becomes available again I think I will order it along with some components to do a much needed upscale clone!

Ok, Sandman, here's the plan.
You call Jim up and say, " Hey Jim, I opened my Overdue and there'e no instructions or templates or anything."
Of course Jim sends you those right away, and you can clone one from those while your kit stays in the bag.

Well, it might have worked if you hadn't already asked for the plans, and if Jim didn't read this post. Oh well. ;)

They say there is a place in the afterlife for people like this. ;) :kill: Nah, j/k. That would be pretty foul! I bet if you simply asked, whether you needed them or not, you'd probably receive. No need for "sneakiness".

THREE DAYS! Oh man, sorry for the delay! :D

Seriously, we ran into two big problems. Floods of orders the last 4 days of September *along* with orders depleting our stock of Deuce's Wild! and A.C.M.E. Spitfire kits.

When your order came in we still had spitfires and your order didn't contain a Deuce... :) (whew)

But once we get orders packaged and out today, we're all set and out from under the backlog. Fortunately we only had 2 orders go a week and a small handful 5 days. Beleive me, if I can't ship the next business day, it drives me nuts!

It was just a joke Eugene. I thought Sandman and Jim would get a laugh out of it. Just emphasising the rarity of the overdue, and pointing out how cool Jim is about taking care of his customers when something really is missing. If I really wanted one that bad, I'd just build one similar to the pics I've seen. I know you were just joking too, but I thought I'd better post this in case someone took me too seriously. I was kidding. I don't think anyone here would really do something like that.

I'm sure everyone knew these notes have all been in jest (the smilies give it away... :) )

Besides, I try to never take anything *too* seriously... ...life's too short and I'm too old... LOL

All right then don't take it too seriously when I say put down the cable modem, get busy and go finish the Tres!:D ;)

Jim

I wonder what you would get if you crossed the Deuces Wild and the Vaughn Brothers Little Wild Thing............

Same for my Corona and Cheetah, Ordered on Friday the 26th and got it on Wednesday the 1st! ALL the way across the country to Washington State. 7-10 day delay? Not from what I saw! ;)

Oh, no misunderstanding at all! :D I was kinda tagging along the humor and adding my own bit.

I totally agree that no one around here would try and pull a fast one. As for any other great service provider out there (ie - Christine at Estes), I certainly hope people give them the same respect they give us. Otherwise we'd be back to square one with terrible service! :p

Well, personally I think Jim is big enough to handle himself.

I've met Jim in person and I can verify this!:D

As for Christine...anybody crosses her has to answer to Me!:kill:

"Little Deuce's Wild Thing" - sound like a bad anime movie :)

Later,

Jim? Oh, Jiiiiim? Why are you logged on to TRF, Jim? The Tres wants to fly, Jim.
< /subliminal >

I was thinking about those 7 canted cluster motors around the central motor!

Did anyone try bribing Jim with a cash donation to obtain an OverDue??? Everyone has a price, you just need to find out what it is. :D :D :D

Jim, could I interest you in a crisp new $20 bill in trade for an OverDue??? :D :D :D

Paul

ok, ok, ok....

TRIVIA TIME!

we've ALL heard jokes about the "3 dollar bill".... :p

But, did anyone know that we (the United States) actually *had* a $3 bill?

Can anyone tell me who was pictured on the face of the $3 bill???

:D :D

jim

as for the $20 offer for an OverDue.... ...HA! :D

Santa Claus...St. Nickolas

They were never printed bu the U.S. Mint but private banks printed some.

NOW do I win an Overdue???
