Queen's "Having a Good Time" has got to be my favoritest favorite. The other is "Hotel California" Also recently discovered the original "We Will Rock You" and love it way more than the one everyone knows.

...I'm a rocket ship on my way to mars on a collision course, I am a satellite, I'm outta control...
-Ken

Are you referring to Queen's Don't Stop Me Now from the Jazz lp?

So many songs to choose from.... hmmm...

This one often makes the start of a long journey.

It's loud, has a driving beat... and it's over 13 minutes long!

Been enjoying this thread, some of these songs, I need to add into my "travel" selection. While I did put in my all time favorite in the beginning of this thread, I thought I might add in another selection- which by be considered a hijack of thread so I'll apologize up front.

For those of us that enjoy different types of music, I had a friend introduce me to a music school that is run by a guy by the name of Aaron Okeefe. All his students range in age from 8 to 18. He has a number of videos on youtube where his students do covers of other artists songs from Aretha Franklin to Pantera and everything in between. I usually listen to a couple of his students songs while driving to or from launches. Here is an example of one of those.

Oh man! I completely forgot about this band. I remember when this came out in the early 80's and our band had just hit the road full time. Used to love these songs. Thanks for the memory boost.

How could I forget :)

Here is one no one mentioned. Back in the Saddle by Aerosmith. It was my song to go out and hit the clubs with when I was young:headbang:

Pick just one? Tough, but I'd have to go with LA Woman by The Doors. It has that strong driving beat that makes speed limits meaningless.

In the late '80's early '90's, I used to work out of town quite a bit, and every Friday as I was getting off work to drive home, a radio station would always play This Beat Goes On/Switchin' To Glide at 4 o'clock sharp. The weekend had arrived. Yabba Dabba Doo!!

Ok, I worked playing music during this era too and I have NEVER heard of this band. I think they are an East Coast thing.

Another :)

Its been a long time since I heard that one.

I graduated High School in '89, so anything 80's is usually good for me, but my tastes run through several decades, though mostly in the Rock genre. I don't listen to much of anything as recent as the last 15 years or so. In the early 2000's I spent quite a bit of time in a Karaoke bar and that exposed me to a lot of music I wouldn't have normally listened to. As it is now, I travel from Mobile, AL, to Houma, LA, for work, then a week later I make the trip back. In mobile the radio is on 96.1 The Rocket (Classic Rock) and as soon as I get near the LA state line it gets switched to 94.3 WTIX New Orleans (Oldies).

actually, narrowing it down to 1 or 2 songs is hard.
ac/dc -thunderstruck
metallica- seek and destroy
the eagles- life in the fast lane
bob marley- anything of his is awesome on a road trip
canned heat- goin to the country

and this one I can listen to over and over on a roadtrip

My driving playlist has many cheesy 80's rock songs, which I will never apologize for:

My road tape got edited over the years because I left out some genuine pearls. This being one of them.

Beat me to it!
