SOMEONE MUST KIT THIS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I didn't have a good sense of the scale of this thing until I saw the video with the guys carrying it out to the launch area. Those are quite impressive. (I'm not sure how I feel about the failures where the propellant goes flying every which way - still impressive, but I'm not sure I'd want to be responsible for flying something that did that...)

I've been thinking about building some sort of cluster rocket to use up some of the booster motors LUNAR swaps out of people's single stage rockets when they come to the safety check table. (Why does Fry's/Target/Whoever even stock -0's with next to thier RTF stuff?) This might be a good candidate, but would be much more impressive on a long-burn smokey.

Begging for a handful of CTI G33s.

Spent some time on my daughters MD Purple Max fins yesterday.. she asked for the 'big motor' so this is technically a clone with 38mm MMT .

Fins are cut ...even the cutouts like the MDRM . The debate is to fill cutouts with expanding foam or foam board or 1/64 plywood before glassing . Feedback welcome !

Also want to glass the tube so will try to set up Coker style .

Picked up my motor / hardware up a couple days after the launch. I have missed being able to fly more than a bit at the last two club launches because I did not get my motors ahead of time thinking a vendor would be there. This last weekend I had the motors shipped, but failed to realize that hazmat stuff needs a signature and my trusty fedex guy was not able to just leave the package. I did have a great time talking to Francine from fedex who went out of her way to try and get me the package, but the driver did not make it back in time. Being nice to phone support can help a ton.

I will be ready for the next launch with many motors and a new rocket that can take 3 grain loads.

My wife has gone absolutely insane with LEGOs. She is a monster.

Busy day here, Sharon and I both got itchy with our builds. I finally finished my OR build of the Extreme DS I'm using for my L-3 rocket. So no more excuses, the build has started. We both drilled holes and I mixed epoxy for my switch band and pem nuts. Took lots of pictures, so I should be able to post up my build thread soon. I kinda feel like this is comparable to a Masters thesis in college, but since I never went, I'm not sure how it compares.

Sharon is building her 4" "Jimbo Jart" right next to my 4" DS Extreme. Black tubing abounds! I already got in trouble picking up her N/C thinking it was mine, so I brought out another 6' table so we could keep our stuff separate. Of course, the tools are always moving around, and good thing I have two cordless drills....

Yeah, we moved out of the Rocket Room, there wasn't enough room in there. Now we are spread out all over the front room way too close to Sharon's hand made Mason and Hamlin grand piano. She used to freak out when anything got within ten yards of it, now it's not an issue. Epoxy is still relegated to the laundry room.

Got my very first "Stickershock" vinyl in the mail today. It's for my 1/4 scale PML Patriot overdue for my Level 1 flight next month. I was going to go semi-nekkid with just primer but the wind shutdown our last launch. I've got some sanding, more primer, more sanding, base coat, highlight colors, vinyl and top coat. Hmmm.. eighteen days... probably doable.

Glued together the replacement shroud for my Estes Saturn 1b refurbishment project.

(First post on TRF :))

I'm a total newcomer to model rocketry. I bought an E2X Estes kit to fly with my nephew and am getting carried away.

Today I bought 3 level 1 kits on https://www.allrocketengines.ca/ and an assortment of A through C engines. I also finished the design of my first 100% from scratch cardboard/balsa rocket. I bought some various supply to build it.

I'm assuming AZ is the land of no basements? You really should jack that house up and dig in a basement, totally worth it :)

There is the reason we don't have basements, it's called "caliche":

High explosives are necessary to "dig" basements. 3200 square foot house and we're running out of room.

That's a bummer. The good news is you can go outside and scrape the ground for some Calcium Carbonate should you ever wish to mix orange flame motors!

Our house is a 1,700 sq. ft. ranch with about a 1,300 sq. ft. basement. My rocket shop is about 200 sq. ft. of that basement. It gets the job done and keeps my mess out of plain sight for the most part!

I received my NAR membership card! L1 here I come.

Also, started work on a 24mm-ified Baby Berta.

I finally heard that the replacement tube for my LOC DoorKnob will be shipped out this week. Apparently Barry was out of town and is the only person qualified to run the laser.

I started working on the motor mount. I used 5 minute epoxy to glue the front centering ring in place. I used the 1/8" plywood tabs for the fins to space the ring on the tube so that there is a room for a small fillet.

Was supposed to go launch (&?**&%$ rain again) Make an Excel list of my casing, chute and shock cord inventory; stock and the one I need

Order some casings, chutes and Lipo batteries ( no more alkaline batteries )

Sanded fin slots. Who would have thought that removing .002 of an inch from six slots would take so long? Took about two hours to sand down the fins and enlarge the slots on my Dark Star Extreme. Then I had to file notches in them to inject the internal fillets....

A trim router or Dremel will get this job done in 5 min.

I would use a Dremel to do the notches, but wouldn't trust my steady hand to take a thousandth of an inch off a fin slot 8" long. I did develop a method using a stir stick as a sanding block and 120 grit sandpaper that got the job done quicker, but that was on the last set of slots.

(Last night). Made progress constructing a slotting sled. Used the router table to cut the slot. This one is for 4" tubes. Should make clean slots.
