Hi, I have a mean machine on the way and wanting more 29mm rockets, want to convert it. I changed the design file but can anyone see issues with this? I plan on flying it on F's mostly.

I have build the mean machine before and still have it. I flew it on E and D engines and the only problem i encountered was it seemed like the heat and stress of landing with the parachute that comes with it caused the body tubes to warp. I would recommend looking at a bigger parachute and maybe a baffle system.

I've seen them fly on F35s (24mm)...seems like the big problem is finding them afterward :).

I've got one in the build pile. I was thinking about building it with a 29mm motor mount to launch it with the Estes E16 & F15. I will probably reinforce the fins with light weight fiberglass.

How about a 12ft 3in diameter 2X upscale with a 38mm hole:)

I just built a Mean Machine 29mm. Go with Birch plywood fins, double wall tubing couplers, a 14" motor mount (Aerotech 29mm 17 in optional tube and an Aerotech ejection baffle, Loc motor tube centering rings, and laminate it with 3/4 oz fiberglass cloth and Aeropoxy. you'll be fine. You have to beef up the airframe. Long skinny airframes tend to act like a wing - they flex in flight. Be sure and ad an AV Bay for your altimeter. I suggest making it a dual deploy rocket if you plan to fly H or I motors. Mine is a dual deploy. A BRB 900 GPS tracking transmitter will fit inside the nose cone with little modification to the nose cone. Have fun flying.

I built one in 29mm for an F Superroc event at one of our regionals. Other than the motor mount, the only other change I made was replacing the plastic section lock with a long plugged coupler, thus turning the front half into a "payload compartment". I used the stock fins as they were. It flew perfectly straight, but it never came home.

If you're only going to fly it on F's, I think the only mod I would do is TTW 1/8" plywood fins.

hi, Thanks for answering. I'm not 100 % sure if I'm going to do it. It wall go pretty high and I dont want to risk losing it. I'm thinking I will build it 29mm and most of the time, use an adapter for 24mm

Good move. Mine flew once on a 29mm G. Sacrificed to the Sky Gods.

TTW fins and I would make it separate in the middle ... essentially creating the upper half as a large NC. This will require less pressurization to eject the recovery and reduce the weight on the aft portion for landing ... thus preserving the fins. If you don't want to do that I would at least do ply TTW fins for sure.

I completely agree with you

Low and slow is cool if ya don't wanna lose rockets and/or don't have GPS tracking installed. The Sky Gods have no mercy on high flyers w/o tracking.

Aerotech has several 29mm single use F's.
