Ok. This is one of the dilemmas I've been pondering for a while. The TLP instructions have you install a metal washer up about 8 inches from the top of the body tube. I did this before I decided to go all-out and convert it to a High Power bird. My dilemma has been, how to stuff a 48 inch parachute and shock cord and all the nose weight into an available 7-8 inch space.
Ok. This is the solution I came up with. I used a 6" piece of BT-60 tube (1.64") and cut it longitudinal, and glued it, so as to fit into the existing area, and still leaving a little over 1/8" on each side where the Kevlar shock is tightly wrapped. Inside of this tube I was able to stuff the tightly packed and wrapped thin mil 48" parachute.
The theory is that when ejection happens, all the laundry will come out and unravel in a clean manner without any tangles. Of course that's the theory. The weight in the nose cone should really pull hard and pull the chute and shock cord out! Keeping fingers crossed on this one.
