The yard sale is a great place. It's still safe. This guy threw out all kinds of flags. Learn to keep an eye out and you're safe. Look for photos, that don't pop up in a google search for the item. This is a small community. References really count.

Don't let one bad experiance sully what is an awesome place to get gear. Just learn from it. Drastic changes aren't needed.

Not necessarily, A persons' interactions over time is a good indicator of their intentions, be they good or bad.

Other forums I've been in had post count requirements. One in particular had a count required to join a club of sorts. When we decided to get a custom knife made for club members, the forum nearly shut down with trash posting. A post count requirementmay indicate someone is looking to hit and run, or just sell fast.

The deals I love here are when non participants join up just to sell and unload a ton of gear. Post count would discourage that. Typically all you have to do is if you're buying from a low count seller, ask some questions, get some photos, ask for a refrence.

All these posts about the need for drastic changes really are making a mountain out of a molehill. One bad seller, and suddenly everyone is up in arms and wants to lock down the world. That's the equivalent of saying that everyone should get frisked on the way out of the store, because one person stole something.

Hundreds and hundreds of deals gone well, and one person behaves otherwise, and suddenly it's lockdown time? What a sad statement about society.

Thats why people talk and make suggestions. O you dont like the suggestion say so in a civil manner. And just for the record there have been numerous "problems" on here with forum members getting ripped off. It happens we all understand that. Thats why its a forum. People coming together and communicating about common interests that affect us all at some point in some way. People are just making suggestions. Be mature and constructive.

Couldn't be more right. And what do you know, at 6:11PM today he was back online again. I hope what he said is true and those individuals who have been refunded come forward and validate his claim. This kind of thing makes it hard for newbies like myself, who would never even contemplate ripping someone off, to sell or buy on here and it is unfair to those of us who are legit. Luckily I had a great person step up and and agree to deal with me, and his package is being shipped out first thing in the morning (a day earlier than I promised him).

I understand that things come up, but in short order, when you have many people sending you PM's and you can't/wont respond, but you can come onto this and other threads on the same day and post your "reasons", then you obviously are just trying to avoid the bullet. Just curious......did anybody ever actually talk to this person over the phone? That was the very first thing I did with my current and active trade deal was to give the gentleman my phone number. AND....in this day and time almost (and I say almost very loosely) everybody has a Facebook account. I also sent the gentleman I am dealing with a friend request on Facebook so he could learn all he wanted about me.

All I am saying is that there are 101 ways to communicate in today's world, so when you don't communicate it is not because you can't.....it is because you wont!!!

Im glad everyone got their money or items. It was a caustic situation that could have been worse. I've been burned myself on here for some hardware....many good people and vendors will pass through selling and buying items, you have to be cautious but at some point you have to assume the risk i suppose. Could happen to anyone.

Travis . You still owe me money big guy . I have not been refunded by paypal although they tried three times , it was just denied every time. You gave myself and a bunch of other false usps tracking numbers . Are you going to run off before you settle up with me ?

With replys it should be within 24 hrs at the most . Within a few hours is more like it . In this age of smart phones and tablets there is no excuse. That goes with phone ,email ,pm and text . Even I'm checking on that is better than nothing .

I've no dog in this game, however it seems to me that, if this guy is handing out bogus USPS tracking numbers, there is not much question that he has moved from screwing people to full on mail fraud. Eric, you might consider calling the local post office and speaking with the postmaster there. They might turn you over to their investigators.

You would think that this would be a felony...who knows. Fraud is a billion dollar industry which mostly goes unchecked.

Is "making beleive you mailed something" actually "mail fraud" or is actually using the USPS to commit fraud a pre-requisite for actual "mail fraud"?

If anything was actually mailed, such as checks or product or empty boxes, then "yes". If everything was done over the interwebs, then "no" to "mail fraud".

He has not provided a real name or a real address or a real telephone contact number, so he is almost certainly an internet fraud artist.

FILE CLAIMS. DO NOT WAIT ANOTHER MINUTE.

These criminals rely on you waiting until the time period to file any and all claims has expired. That is why they keep making fake promises and send you fake tracking numbers.

What about the fact that he may not have what he list for sale. Peoples should include a photo of what they have for sell with their post, aside it sell way better if it with picture and good description. This has nothing to do with beating a dead horse, it’s common sense.

I was unaware that Eric had not received his refund, I am working with him and paypal to make that happen hopefully today.

Paypal send email for each of the transactions made in your account, if it’s declined, you receive an email.

FYI, 3stoogesrocketry has a certified payment. I have given him the tracking number and a picture of the receipt from the post office. If anyone wants further proof please contact him, as I am not comfortable sharing his info without his permission....

Just curious ... if he had no intention of ripping anyone off and this was all just a big misunderstanding, why issue refunds and not just send the promised merchandise? Could it be he never had the merchandise Townsend? Hmmmmm.

I can provide pictures of the products tonight when I get home. I was just in the assumption people would rather have their money back.

It is really amazingly simple to make everyone stop accusing the alleged con-artist: Provide actual verifiable proof of who you are and a method of contacting you other than through a forum or through e-mail that can be a dummy account.

No phone number=liar and con artist/criminal.

If you have been ripped off, IMMEDIATELY file claims with your credit card company or PayPal and file police reports without waiting any further.

DO NOT TOLERATE CRIMINAL ACTIVITY!

Well first off that is my real name, secondly why would I need to provide my phone number and address on here to people who have no forbearance on this situation. All of my contact info is available to those INVOLVED via my paypal profile. Anyone NOT involved does NOT need my contact info.
