Comet ISON is reported as now being visible to the naked eye.

The problem is that you need a clear view to the East before sunrise.
Space probes like Messenger around Mercury should get a good view of Comet ISON. Mercury is about 30 million miles from the sun. At its closest approach to the sun (perihelion) on November 28 (my birthday and Thanksgiving Day) Comet ISON will be only 700,000 miles from the sun.
