Unfortunately, looking at that form, it doesn't seem like it is applicable for our situation as he didn't approach us 'by mail' to buy his products...Or maybe I am reading into the information they are asking for on the form..Either way, I believe I filled one out months ago and got no response..

The postal service has jurisdiction to investigate mail fraud. One interesting thing about mail fraud is that to create federal jurisdiction there just has to be the use of the mail (which also includes UPS and FedEx) at any point in connection with a scheme to defraud. So if someone buys something and sends a check by mail, or if the product gets sent by FedEx, that's enough to confer jurisdiction. It sounds like there is enough here to give the Feds jurisdiction, assuming there was a scheme to defraud and not just that he was a bad businessman, took money, and didn't complete contracts.

It doesn't hurt to fill out the form, but don't expect a response. This is really, really small-time, even if it was fraud. The Feds won't even look at it if the scheme wasn't at least in the $100,000 dollar range or so. There are too many million dollar plus schemes out there to keep them busy.

As I've said before, sometimes bad stuff happens and we can't do much about it. One of the tough things about life is that the test often comes before the lesson. Those who didn't get what they paid for will be happier once they accept the loss and move on.

Well, somebody bought half of them. K&S reduced their price for the the rights to the parachutes.

Looks like someone is foolish. Hopefully they receive that which they have purchased.

I inquired out of curiosity and declined. He indicated someone over seas was interested. For now I will stick to custom work, wholesale parts, and perhaps a couple unique items in stock.

That might be a safer stance to maintain.

I would love to do some 5.5" / 6" upscales of classic kits, the hard part is getting nosecones that are right. K/S didn't have a source for correct cones. I'll bet pulling quality gelcoat cones is harder than it looks!

I got one of his Upscale Laser Torpedoes and I was truly disappointed in the (lack of) quality nose cone. I was also pretty unhappy with the fact the body tube arrived crushed and he just shrugged his shoulders and said it wasn't his problem.

I guess I should be happy that it actually turned up!

I may eventually build it.

so my question... Can anyone remind me how I "ran my mouth off" and second... did anyone get their order filled?? well if his "threat" was a promise.. maybe some will get them in the next week or two... shall we all hold our breaths.. ??
