FFG(Pyrodex) Vs FFFF

Hi

I purchased FFG(Pyrodex) for my recovery charges. Do I need the same a mount of FFG as I would FFFF ? If diferent how much FFG do I need for 1 ounce of FFFF.

There are two separate issues here. First is FFg vs FFFFg. I've found the two work pretty similarly, and maybe you need a bit more FFg than FFFF, but it's not a huge difference. The second issue though is pyrodex vs BP. Pyrodex burns much slower than BP. As a result, you won't have much success using it with normal, BP-based techniques. Some people have had success with confining pyrodex to help it burn completely, but I don't personally have any experience in that area (maybe another forum member can chime in with that data).

I use FFg BLACK POWDER because I had a 1lb can. Seems to work just fine. Pyrodex is another matter. cjl is correct in that if you choose to use Pyodex, I would spend some time experimenting with static tests before I "put one in the air" :wink:

I t shows that Pyrodex will work but alot of ground testing has to be done.
