Quest merger.jpg

Aerotech just posted it here and at YORF. I can't wait to see those savings they talk about finding their way to us the consumer!

I wonder how many will lose their jobs as a result of this? It's not often that mergers benefit anyone other than those at the top.

Well there goes the name of my new start up company, AeroQuest!:rofl:

I'd be happy to see more 18mm RMS loads.... Did they actually ever release the "B" & "C" composites?

Jerome

From 1992-1993, AeroTech sold B6, C4, C6 and C12 reloads for the RMS-18/20 casing.

The sales were poor so those products were discontinued. :(

Does this mean that 4) Q2G2 igniters will cost $12 ?

Hopefully brings AT everywhere that Quest is sold , brings BP motors into AT , and maybe the AT kits and Quest Advanced can be refreshed into some new MPR . Big Dog Sumo ! Quad Runner Initator ! Minotaur Aureaux 2 Stage . . .

There was an E for the 18/20, the E27T which was barely an E at around 21ns or so. The 18mm Ds are pretty cool motors, I've built a few rockets specifically for them. The D24 always surprises me by the sound it makes.

Perhaps Quest will bring some new motors to market now. The 6mm reloadable thing was just a joke but some 13mm composite SU motors would be dynamite. Hmmm, Quest Medalist motors?:)

I love my RMS-18/20 with D13, I tried with my Cardstock Saturn IB 200Gr. but i had problem with the ejection (My fault), the flame and sound is so nice, I hope with Quest they resume the A, B & C Production

Sometimes it takes me a bit to remember but I did manage to get 1 package of the E's, -7 I think. We also blew out the aft enclosure on a C12, found the enclosure and used the case many times since. I'll have to see what fuel I can find and where to get it and get some more, especially in the D range.

Sales were poor because of their distribution chain. I managed a hobby store at the time.. I carried everything I could get my hands on..never saw the B & C reloads.
Now's the time to try again!

I think the problem with the B and C reloads was that they had to compete with SU BP motors of the same dimensions and lower price. Who wants to build a motor and clean a case when you can open a package and be ready to go? The C12 however was a handy motor and one that IMO should have been kept in the 18/20 line up.

A 3 pack of C6-5 is $11.79 from Estes... A 3 pack of D13-7 RMS is $9.99 from Aerotech...

I think a real problem with most of the B and C reloads was if you lose the case you would be out $40 for the case. Those three-packs of reloads only included only one nozzle which had to be cleaned and reused. It did not help that the B6-(2, 4, 6), C4-(3, 5), and C6-5 were never safety certified by either NAR or Tripoli. Also, with the extremely small nozzles on the B6/C4/C6 reloads, it was very trying to get any igniter through the nozzle. I am not sure if the smaller igniters supplied by Aerotech today or the new Pro Series Igniters would fit through those tiny nozzles.

Great Planes and Horizon Hobby bought the B and C reloads (Among other hobby distributors).

No distributors ever placed a second order. :(

A fair comparison of MSRP to MSRP but back when you could buy a pack of Estes Cs for $5 at walmart and had to order your AT B and C reloads from Magnum or other mail order supplier the Estes motors always ended up the cheaper option.
