I'm beginning to wonder if this is the new iAltimeter by Apple. The end user marketing campaign seems like that for the latest iwhatever that Apple never really announces until the day it goes on sale. Then all the folks who absolutely must have it are queued up foaming at the mouth and standing in line at the door (having camped out for days) to grab one of what they could walk up and buy a week later...

This has nothing to do with the manufacturer or their products (both of which are top notch) - just seeing the parallels...

Remember over 10,000 ADEPT22's were sold in its short lifespan (wish you the same success).

RRC3 costs more than a '22, however, there's a lot more it's capable of doing...
I'd also say it's just as easy to use for basic dual deploy as the '22.

HAHAHA! Astute observation really.

I completely get why folks have been so excited but I mean...Some of you...a little overboard lol.

Jim, what is the "hold off" area, recommended spacing needed top and bottom of the board (for components, sampling, etc.)?

All the surface mount components and the baro sensor are on the bottom side of the PCB... a minimum standoff of about 0.1" allows everything to be up off the sled comfortably. For the top-side clearances, the worst case components are the compression terminals and electrolytic which sit ~0.35" off the top PCB surface.

Intro price of $64.95

Sorry,... but I only check into this thread every few days... Has delivery date been confirmed?

I'll buy 1 with screen today if there's a firm delivery date.

So the plan is to have this thing ready by the end of the month or will it be a little longer?

Yes... we'll be fabricating the 1st production runs starting this weekend.
I'm also working on deploying a new web site, and when the new site is online, you'll be able to order.

You only need to go back one page to post #207 to find out about the timeline. Check back next month, there might be a few left then.....:eyepop:

I recommend ya'll start watching the Missleworks website......it won't be too long before they ....magically appear!

Try about....mmmm...ya...that long.

Mr Jim Amos will let everyone know with the BIG intro. They are being made, along with the LCD's and Dongles.

Yes, YES they ARE being made! So now ya know they are no longer vapor in the mist....they are real & right around the corner.

I just finished the "Buy it & Fly it" quick start user's guide.
But the full blown manual must be finished & there is plenty of stuff to document. How many of you have ever done a REAL detailed build thread? Yeah..well if you have, ya got an idea of what must be involved to do this. weeks of typing & days of editing and somewhere in between...... building all the RRC3's now your gett'n it!

It's only been 2 weeks since the beta testing was finally finished. I've been flying these things for month's, changing rockets, changing sleds , moving this, testing that. It became real work months ago, keeping logs of every flight, comparing data to other units, asking why, how and making special flights with motors to fit specified parameters.

So no more complaining from anyone. A lot was done to bring out the the best value out here, and the most feature packed, unique item ya ever played with, for the fewest bucks your gonna pay.

Then the manual for the LCD & the FlightViewer/computer software.
So it ain't just the hardware going on here folks.....it's all the other peripherals needed to make it all come together or else ya won't know what to do with them, when ya get one!! Actually that should be.....you won't have a clue about all the extra stuff besides dual deploy they can do!

So it's only a couple weeks overdue based on last falls estimates & that ain't bad considering a 3 week set back. So all in all it's right on time.....just as the flying season's getting started.

So ...Merry Xmas to all & to all a good night HO--- HO------ HOoooooo.......... the altimeter Santa is loading up the sleigh!

[and you don't want a lump of coal....do ya?]

To give you an idea of what CJ is referring to, there's a total of 74 threads and 1,695 messages. Plus numerous emails, and countless hours of phone conversations. This all started last fall; Jim Amos had an idea in his head, at that time. I think he'd be the first to admit that it has evolved, significantly, from what he originally had in mind, based on input from the group.

I'd like to thank you guys and everyone else beta testing these things for all the hard work. This will be my first altimeter, may get another one when I come back for seconds. I'm not in a hurry, but I'll just try to figure all this out by the time Freedom Launch rolls around, then it may be time to play! :)

How did the flight go??

Need feedback. :)

OK, sorry for the long lag here, Greg (and everyone else).

I had not forgotten that I promised to post up this flight, and now that I'm in the home "production stretch" I've got a slice of time tonight to post up Bryce's nose cone flight. I don't have all the specifics on the venting arrangement and volume, but Bryce vented right above the NC/BT junction. The Rocket (Metallic Bliss) boosted on a J760W.

Here's the whole flight rDACS plots of this RRC3 flight:

Here's the zoomed "boost/apogee" phase.
Some pretty wild dynamics as the shock wave washed over and back along the cone....

Here's a spreadsheet dump of the flight that mirrors the state of the internal permissive discriminator:

I'm actively building and finalizing everything, and release is imminent.
New web site should decloak in the next 48 hours when DNS transfer has percolated.

Thanks for the update. I am looking forward to it.

Is the MissileWorks website down for other people? It has been down for me since around 11 pm last night. Could this be the the new site coming up with the RRC3?

It's up for me. I ordered last night before they sold out.

Just kidding.

Sorry. I'm waiting too...

I would guess it is being updated. If you notice the ads on the form, there is now one for the RRC3.
