Thanks, I've been looking for some at that price. I found some a while ago and didn't order it, then all I could find was 100ft for ~$25, until now.

This stuff is nice - very limp. Why is some kevlar cord soft and supple, and some so stiff? Anyone know?

Get it while it's hot! I just ordered another two hundred feet.

Ordered some yesterday-- just a hundred feet though. With the money I'm spending on my other projects, I decided $25 of Kevlar was not a good idea right now. ;)

Well I bought 1000 feet earlier in the year so I'll leave this lot to everyone else.

I'm in.... just ordered 200'.... Only 700' left! Better hurry if you want it!

Grabbed 100' as seller was down to 4 units, building 3 Crayon Bank rockets for daughter and daycare friends - so have half this used already.

I wonder, is business usually this quick, or is the seller scratching his head about why all of his Kevlar sold so quickly? :p

He sent me an email today thanking me for the second order, I let him know I spread the word.

Got mine today! :) it does seem to be of high quality, and it feels much nicer than the 190lb test nylon I've been using. The postage on the envelope said $2.97-- that can't be the cheapest way to ship something like that, so good on him! I left him positive feedback, and I encourage others to do the same. For such a good deal, he deserves it! :)

I wasn't sure what you were talking about at first. I had ordered this same kevlar before and recently had some 1000# rated kevlar on order from China. When the Chinese order arrived it was the same or smaller diameter but much stiffer. On closer inspection the stiffer version has core fibers with a braided jacket (kernmantle construction) whereas the supple version is just the braided jacket. The core adds strength and stiffness. To have the same strength in the supple, jacket only style, you would need a larger diameter to accomodate more yarns in the jacket. I thought that was what I was ordering and is what I would prefer but the stiffer cord I got will still be put to good use.

The stiff stuff I have has no core, and the same weave as the limp stuff. What I just noticed is the difference in the cut end - the stiff stuff stays clean, the limp stuff kinda comes undone. Maybe it has a coating of some sort.

Got my 200' today, looks great, glad it's a single continuous length to avoid waste.

I calculated it and the guy is getting $0.03/ft before material costs... Not sure how that's possible...

Simple...I bought a 1,000 yard roll for 75.00 That's 2.5 cents a foot & whoever sold it to me[actually the same guy] for that price was already marking it up. Few months ago there were 40-50 rolls of this stuff for sale. It's possible it was surplus of some sort. Guys were snapping it up 3-4 roll at a crack.

PS I JUST LOOKED IT UP ON E-BAY........ 100ft for 11.99

SO .... at my cost material is 2.50 for the kevlar Under 3 bucks to ship 1st class so he's making at least 6 bucks a deal.... not bad considering there are 30 deals per roll that's 180.00 profit. [at least] Minus e-bays take of course.

And if you buy more than 1 deal the shipping remains the same so he makes an extra 3 bucks per 100ft deal. [Originally the deal was 8.00 per hundred feet plus 3.00 shipping. He changed that when sales took off to 11.99 free ship] so that's another buck profit.

No matter how you look at it....still a heck of a deal. Before this I was paying .45 @ foot for this stuff from rocket vendors!

In my calculations I reversed all of the eBay and paypal percentages (assuming he used the 50 free listings/month deal through eBay) I fail to see how $0.50 per 100' order is worth the time and effort.... But maybe that's just me... I'm not complaining, it's a killer deal for us...

Ummm.....read again. That's 6-8 bucks profit per deal, before FeeBay.

They can't be charging THAT much on such small deals, can they?

I think it's 10%, but don't quote me. Rather than trying to crunch the numbers, I'm going to say he probably wouldn't be doing it if he wasn't coming out ahead - why would you?
